Had lunch here today and really enjoyed it. This is the best Mexican restaurant in Evansville. I had a carnitas, chorizo, lengua, and rib meat tacos; all were excellent. My mom and grandma had chicken and steak gorditas, and both really liked there food. My wife had roja tamales and really liked it. We each also got empanadas which were delicious. I was very satisfied and look forward to going back again.
Best Mexican in town. Go there for lunch all the time, and everyone I know loves it too. It’s really silly you have to put 140 characters because that’s all that needs to be said. Maybe hard to get a spot at table.
After discovering this hidden gem in Washington Sq mall all other Mexican restaurants can’t hold a candle to them! They definitely have the most authentic Mexican food around this area. I have tried their tamales, beef, pork, chicken tacos, shredded pork gordita, & pork quesadilla which are all homemade, fresh ingredients & delicious! I never leave without a mangonada in hand! This place is a must try!! They will be moving to Burkhardt very soon where the Smiling moose deli & Salad World formally were.
Tonight was my first time trying La Campirana. This restaurant is oddly located in Washington Square Mall’s food court (one of only two restaurants left… unless you count the cookie place). The gentleman who waited on us at the counter was very friendly and knowledgable about the menu. My daughter and I each got a gordita and decided to split a torta. We got a side of the sweet corn and a bottled coke. There were several meat options for each dish. I chose the el pastor and my daughter chose the chipotle chicken for her gordita. We opted for the pulled pork on the torta. All were very good. Neither of us cared for the corn, but I think it was just a flavor profile we were not used to. This restaurant would be a 5 if it were an actual sit down restaurant with chips and salsa. The food tasted like it was from a food truck, and the gordita was both of our favorite. We will definitely come back and try something new.
I had the tacos with grilled chicken it was so light and tasty. I also had the Mango Loco. What a great way to end the meal sweet, spicy and sour. It was a little too big of a portion for me and a little too salty for such a big serving. I will definitely be back. As my friend said this is great Mexican street food not Americanized for what I saw.
I had the quesadilla and a mango smoothie. All I can say is yum! The food at this place is delicious, I definitely plan on making a return trip!
Really enjoyed the Sopes with chorizo and the Tortas was good too. The mango smoothie was good and fresh and the Tres Leches cake was good too. The chicken quesadilla was ok but not my favorite.
