Leroy’s is basically a hangout for drunks that blow their rent by Sunday morning. If your not a regular don’t bother. The Corner Bar is just across the street and Sportsman’s is a few blocks away…both are way more welcoming, and Sportsman’s has all the tavern style foods. I grew up on the westside and went to school there, and Leroy’s is for the locals that are old and still go job to job.
Less Than Pleasant. Walked in with about 10 people. I went to get a beer and the older bartendress asked for all of our ID’s. Took one girl in our group a little longer to dig it out of her purse and the bartendress started nagging at her to get it out. One ‘hold on a second’ comment later and she was kicked out. Hadn’t even gotten a drink yet. Seemed a little hasty to me and pretty unprofessional since we did have a large group. We all left Leroy’s and went over to Corner Bar and had a great night. I doubt I’ll ever set foot in Leroy’s again after that. Plenty of other quality bars on the Westside to go to.
Said they were closed when we walked in. Open sign was on and their hours stated they were open until 2am. We arrived at 11pm and were promptly greeted with we’re closed. Will never return back to this establishment.
HORRIBLE! I walked in and was harassed by the bartender for my id! As I was retrieving my ID from my purse I asked about the beer specials and she wouldnt even answer until I found my wallet…then told me to move as soon as she FINALLY brought me my beer because people were sitting in the seats i was just squeezing between to order a beer. Ive never been harassed or treated like that by not only the bartender but others in the bar RUDE RUDE RUDE!
Good Pizza. Jaci’s right; I walked in the door to pick up my pizza, and everyone was looking at me.
An Acquired Taste. Leroy’s is not for everyone. When you first walk in, everyone turns and stares like you’re the new stranger in town in a bad western movie. This was my experience, at least. Once I got over that feeling of being out of place, I really enjoyed myself. I now go to Leroy’s about once a week because it’s the closest bar to my apartment. The prices are unbelievable (two bucks for a cheeseburger), the bar has more options than you might assume (it’s not just PBR and Wild Turkey), and the pizza is actually quite good. Their service is also great. On only my third visit, the bartender remembered what kind of beer I drink. Overall, Leroy’s is a good local place with decent stuff to munch on and ridiculously cheap drinks.
Tavern with the best pizza & jukebox!
