Marx for me was a mixed bag. The chicken was fall off bone tender and juicy. Original and Sweet and Sassy sauces were both DELICIOUS! Baked beans were also very good. On the downside, my ribs were very tough and chewy and I’ve never come across a German potato salad that wasn’t served hot until Marx. But for the price, it wasn’t bad, I’d probably go back. Also, if you have dogs you love a lot, they sell their bones to bring home to your pups 🙂
Soaks! Awesome ham & cheese; beef to die for; pie & brownies & cookies mmmm. Good food & quaint atmosphere. And the catering! DON’T miss out on their whole roasted pig & dressing & American potato salad & BBQ baked beans. Did I mention how tender the BBQ ribs & chicken are? Not to mention their fried chicken would be criminal. Traditional BBQ sauce is my fav, but their famous Sweet-N-Sassy sauce will win awards. I love the soups, burgoo & chili.
Soup. The vegetable soup is amazing I love to get it when I’m sick.
Best BBQ in Indiana!. Marx is lesser known unless you live on the west side of Evansville (which I do not). However, this is the best BBQ in the city. Take out is the typical methods of eating, but there is a nice place in the back for sit down patrons. Whatever your choice of meat (pork, chicken, ribs), make sure you get your food with the home made Sweet n’ Sassy BBQ Sauce!
