Fantastic meatballs. Since I work so close, I eat at Milano’s for lunch almost weekly. The Greek pizza and lasagna are my fave, and the people are very friendly and quick. They also have a frequent lunch card which you have to ask for, but you get a free lunch after the 10th visit. My husband and I have had dinner dates there about 4 times in the last 3 years, and the service is always pretty crummy. The food, however, is fabulous. Ignore the service and enjoy the meatballs which are so flavorful and juicy. The baked ziti is also great, but it takes a little extra time.
While the food was good, the experience wasn’t so great. Our server didn’t seem happy we were there. Apparently they were hoping to close early. We arrived more than an hour before closing time. We were done a full half hour before closing which is when they actually closed. Right away we were told they were out of pizza and veal. I ordered tea to drink. Guess what. They were out of that too. It seems to me it was probably more they weren’t going to make more since they were planning to leave early. I dint like feeling unwelcome. It’s ok. Angelo’s is up the street.
Great place for lunch! I love the friendly, enthusiastic servers, quick service and large variety of calzones, pizza slices, stromboli, and pasta dishes. Salad ingredients are fresh and crisp. My favorite lunch spot in Evansville.
BEST ITALIAN FOOD EVER!!!. Milano’s is by far the best Italian food I’ve ever had!!! The food is wonderful, prepared with care with fresh ingredients. Their melt in your mouth knotted rolls are incredible. The salad & house dressing are wonderful, lots of fresh tomatoes & olives. My favorite dish is the pascatore. The seafood is wonderful in a buttery white wine sauce that is addictive!!! Wow, I can’t say enough good things about this place. Great for a romantic dinner or to bring the family. Our kids love their toasted ravioli. My husbands favorite dish is the Chicken Marsala!! 🙂 GREAT FOOD! -Mark & Mallory Lowe
We stopped here near the end of a long road trip to celebrate our twins’ birthday. The restaurant was packed because of an ice hockey game and the philharmonic, so we had to wait about 10 minutes. Our family had pizza, pasta with marinara, lasagna, and beef ravioli. All four meals were fabulous! The cheese on the pizza had a unique flavor, the ravioli was very cheesy, the lasagna tasted fresh and light, and the marinara used in all dishes was very good. The lasagna was a smaller serving than the usual at the chain restaurants, but not inadequate. The Italian yeast knots and salad served before the meal were also very delicious. The service was superb! The owner spoke to us several times, the busser (?) worked non-stop, and our server was prompt and courteous. The staff even brought out complimentary dessert for my sons’ birthday. They even accommodated my vegan dietary needs without hesitation. As mentioned in other reviews, the decor is dated and not nearly as good as the food. It’s not abysmal or anything, though. We will definitely stop again on our next road trip through Evansville. Don’t miss this place when looking for a reasonable, fresh meal!
YUMMY! Love this place!’
Skip this one. Let me say from the outset that the service was very good. I don’t remember the names of the two gentlemen who served us, but they were attentive and friendly throughout my visit. The food, on the other hand, was awful. The appetizers, toasted raviolli and fried mozarella sticks, were clearly frozen, rather than freshly made. I ordered the Veal Marsala, hoping that it would be based on the recipe used years ago at Angelo’s, and before that, Franco’s, since the resturaunt has it’s origins with the same people who once ran those establishments. It was very disappointing. While the veal was tender and properly cooked, the sauce was anemic and poorly prepared. It appears that perhaps the kitchen staff was trying to stretch the sauce by watering it down.Hoping to salvage the meal, I ordered coffee and cheesecake for dessert. Also disappointing. The coffee was old, and tasted scorched, and the cheesecake tasted like the frozen variety, and had the consistency of clay. The atmosphere was okay, and as I’ve said, the service was actually very good. The food however was awful. I hope the proprietor is able to work out his kitchen issues, as it would be a shame to see yet another downtown eatery go under.
