Excellent!. Eclectic little spot in Greenfield that is worth the trip. Located in the old library the menu offers something for everyone without overreaching. The house salad is beautiful and delicious. Leave room for the trio dessert. Servers knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. Nice to find a place where you can actually have a conversation without shouting.

Had a wonderful experience at Carnegie’s. Beautiful place, in Greenfield’s original Carnegie libary. Perfectly prepared salmon, delicious red bell pepper soup. Wonderful service. Was visiting from Seattle and would rank Carnegie’s with any dining experience I have had there. Truly one of the best-kept dining secrets in the Indianapolis area.

Worst food Ever. I am completely stunned. After reading the rave reviews my sister-in-law, husband and I decided to eat at Carnegie. Keep in mind we are accustomed to such establishments as Fish Bone, Melting Pot, Kincaids etc. So paying 50 dollars per meal is not unusual for us. Let me walk you thru the experience we had to walk down a flight of stairs into a room that looked straight out of an 80s basement party. We were guided to a table that did not every have matching chairs. I went to sit down I am over weight but not huge 190 pounds the leg of my chair started folding me up. My husband retrieved me a sturdier chair. The place is really small and was staffed with at least 4 waitresses but it took roughly 10 minutes to get water. We were served bread with dipping oil thrown in the middle of the table. But we did not get any appetizer plates. We asked for plates with a waitress that looked surprised that we would want plates. The oil had NO seasoning it at all so my sister-in-law poured a little on her plate and was going to add salt and pepper. Too her and my surprised the salt and pepper shakers were sticky… yes sticky. I asked my sister-in-law if she wanted to leave we could go. She was treating me and my husband for helping her out with some things she said it has to get better. We ordered cream red pepper soup which was absolutely delicious so were in hopes that the food was going to be great. Our meals arrived 2 Steaks at 36 dollars and 1 pork chop meal for 26 dollars. My sister-in-laws steak was ordered medium rare it came with no pink in it. I told her for 36 dollars dont eat it send it back. The waitresses took the meal back to the kitchen then returned and ask my sister in law do you want it more cooked or less cooked the chef wants to know… Are you kidding me??? My sister-in-law questioned which she should of why the chef didnt know the different the answer we got was the lightening is poor in the kitchen so he thought it was medium rare. My pork chop was okay… But as I ate the vegetables they tasted freezer burned then my sister-in-law figured it out they were cooked in cheap vegetable oil. My husband at this point is trying to be positive but he didnt like his meal either. As we waited for my sister in laws meal we both commented the same time that it appeared smoky in there and wondered why it was so smoky since it was non smoking Just about that time her steak back this time it was rare and not medium rare but she told the waitress it was fine she would rather While she ate I went to the bathroom.. OH MY GOD… it was a one room stall that I had to step up into that was as dirty as a Walmart bathroom. Cleaning supplies sitting right next to the toilet. When I returned my sister in law at this point had eaten two bites of her steak and was ready to go. Our bill with tip was 177 dollars so we decided we would bring the meals home and feed them to the dogs. Before we left my husband noticed some stairs that went pretty high up. Out of curiosity he asked the waitress what was up there she said come on up and I will show you. We climbed the stairs and at the top was a banquet room. Filled I mean filled with smoke as smoky as a campfire. So atleast we werent crazy when we swore it was smoky downstairs. The waitress said yeah it gets smoky up here but we host banquets and it holds 130 people .. yada yada.. at this point my husband snapped a little and asked the waitress if she had ever been to OCharleys down the street she said no he said much much better steak for half the price you should go there some time. Next morning me, my husband, my sister in law… all had upset tummies. The icing on the cake was when my husband fed the steaks to the dogs and the dogs who have rock gut and can handle anything regurgitated the steak back up. My suggestion to anyone that would like to eat there is one bring cleaning supplies to clean off your utensils and only get the creamy roasted red pepper soup and ice tea.. and you will be happy if you venture off into any other dish good luck and God Speed.

Best place in Greenfield, IN. Always there on my birthday, Ian (the chef) is a master of the culinary arts.

Unimpressed. Sorry guys! I was not overwhelmed. Party of 16 was seated upon arrival, but food service was slow (2 hr) and wait staff was inattentive. Seating was too crowded as it felt tighter than an economy airline seat. The Cheese trays @ $12 ea barely had any substance. Salads while well presented lacked flavor and where minimally dressed. Entrees were well liked by all of our party and the portion size was good.Overall, I was not impressed

Carnegie’s – One of my favorites. My husband and I have eaten at Carnegie’s several times. Each time, it seems I like the place more. We recently had dinner in their garden…it was magnificent! You don’t feel like you’re in Indiana (much less, Greenfield!). The setting in the garden was amazing–it’s so nice to connect the food on your plate to the care in which it is grown! The smell of the fresh housemade-bread made in the outdoor bread oven was awesome. There are not enough superlatives in the world to describe that red pepper soup. The wine list is interesting, service is always great and you will love the food. All around, it is one of my all-time favorites!
