Ehhhhh – Thumbs down. Their salsa is a complete and utter embarassment to salsa. Their cheese dip needs work too. The entree I had wasn’t bad. I really had no complaints there. My biggest complaint was that the receipt that they attach to your handwritten bill added up to $24, but the total on that very same bill read $32. Something fishy going on there. They tried to blow it off as some miskeyed entry when running the calculator, but the gentleman clearly re-added what was on there and he came to my total as well. I would like to think this isn’t a racket they have going on, but who knows.
AwesomO!. I’m really surprised at the negative reviews… This is our go to Mexican restaurant for family dinners / parties 15+. Food is always delicious, drinks are strong too! It does seem the staff is overworked, but they still do a good job. I’d recommend this place to anyone. A++
Whatever you do, don’t show up near closing time. They’ll intentionally spice up your food, and laugh at you when it burns. They think we don’t understand them when they talk about gorda and Gordo. Avoid this place.
Poor Service. I haven’t been back to EL Menson since they charged me 99 cents for some extra sour cream on the side. I didn’t order a drink just water with lemon. I asked the cashier why they charged me for sour cream. And she really couldn’t tell my why. I haven’t been back since and I loved the chicken tacos. They were pretty good but I have noticed that they are not very busy these days. I couldn’t believe they charged me almost a dollar for something extra.
Poor service!. We went there on our anniversary like we have done since they opened in greenwood and was ignored the whole time we were there. The asst. manager (Alex) had our table but was busy doing other things and never even returned to our table for refills or to check on us or to take our food order. I had to flag down someone to order and to ask another waiter for a plate which never came. I felt like they didn’t even care that I had a problem. I could have just got up and left and I should have. I had to stop someone so i could get my check. Unbelievable! I have never been disrespected in a restaurant like this and I’ve not ever left a sit down restaurant without leaving a tip but there’s a first time for everything. I left nothing for a gratuity this night.
Not good!. I went to the Michigan St restaurant. This was my second visit. I doubt I’ll be back. It took the host more than 5 minutes to acknowledge guests waiting to be seated and then everyone was informed that there was a 10-15 minute wait. It appeared that there were many many empty tables and not at all busy. After being seated, my drink order was taken, chips & salsa were served and my order was taken. All done very promptly. It wasn’t long before I was served, except I was not brought silverware!! I kept looking for wait staff, but no one was around. About 2 minutes later I took silverware from a nearby table. At closer inspection of my food, I ordered the burrito, I could tell that the melted cheese was cold. I sliced into the burrito and it was barely lukewarm. Again, I could not see any wait staff to let them know. I ended up eating about half of my food before I pushed it away. It was another 35 minutes before anyone came around with my check. No one checked on me during my meal or attempted to refresh my drink. I was not offered a to-go box for my leftovers. I waited another 3 minutes at the cash register to pay. Not likely I will visit El Mason again.
Crash and Burn…. I have eaten at El Meson a few times… I was never impressed with the service, it was the typical situation where as the waiter/waitress only comes by and smiles and asked how everything is before they leave you the bill in hopes that you will forget that they basically have ignored you up till this point. In the past the food was pretty good and reasonably priced particularly at lunch time. My family and I ate there yesterday… food was tasteless and cold and the service was as bad as I have ever seen it. It really is a shame they have left behind the basic’s of running a successful restaurant. If they stay this course…it would not surprise me to see them close their doors.
