Family Favorite. Our family has been here many times. Love the friendly staff and great food. Fried rice and salad and sushi are the best. Kids love the flaming volcano.

We eat here at least once a week – so obviously we like the place. There are some pros and cons, and indeed, it is sometimes hit and miss. We love the food (hibachi and sushi). Sometimes there is a fair amount of waiting around, so we always go around the end of the lunch shift (2:30) when possible. As others have said, the chefs aren’t too interested in putting on a show, and you know what THAT’S FINE WITH ME! I’m not 12 years old. I just want my food and cooked the way I like it, an that is what they do! They’ve never been smug about us being picky with our order. We have had a less than satisfactory experience a time or two, but we’ve been here probably 100 times. So, it’s safe to say we love the place!

Good Experience. Have always had good food (generally order med/rare steak). It’s not a fast food restaurant therefore expect to spend a little time and enjoy your saki ! Been coming here for over 20 years.

Dinner Great – Sushi Horrible. While our lunch-time chef did nothing really special compared to the show at the next table, our filet was cooked perfectly, and we loved our fried rice. On the other hand, our vegetables were undercooked. The bad part of our meal was sushi. We had opted to visit House of Tokyo because we enjoy the food better rather than going to Kabutos with its awesome sushi. In the past, we’ve enjoyed good sushi at HoT. This time, the appetizers took forever to arrive, and the Philadelphia roll was made with smoked tuna rather than raw while the Shrimp Tempura roll was made with little shrimp like that served with the dinners. While the Philadelphia roll was barely edible, the shrimp roll would have been okay if the sushi had been wrapped properly. It literally fell apart while trying to eat it. Even though we left 3/4 of our appetizer on the plate, nobody asked if it had been okay. We’ll go back to Kabuto for sushi and will try House of Tokyo sometime in the future during dinner service to see if the top-notch chefs are scheduled then.

My husband and I have been going to House of Tokyo for 14yrs now….best Japanesse food and atmosphere on the Southside!!

Bad food. Worse hibachi food on the south side. Their idea of vegetables is onion and zucchini. The worse sushi ever! Don’t waste your time. My guess is they don’t keep fresh fish so they sear salmon and wrap in rice, horrible
