I’m a fan of Luca pizza. I’m never disappointed in what I’ve gotten from them. Of course I prefer the type of crust they have there, it’s not a deep dish sponge, nor is it a frozen cracker. They put the right amount of sauce on their pizzas too. Enough to taste it in every bite but not soupy either. I also really like their Pepperoni breadsticks too. Luca is one of those places that doesn’t seem to change which is a good thing and they’re not trying to win anyone over with a lame gimic pizza like a chain would do — That’s directed right at you Papa John and Pizza Hut. (yuck!)
Kind of New York Style. Unimpressive sauce, toppings and crust.. Luca has a few of the ingredients required to be a really good pizza place, but it falls short overall. They have huge pizza sizes with big, floppy, foldable pieces, but their crust lacks flavor or any sort of crispy edge. The sauce leans more to the salty spectrum, but generally lacks flavor. Toppings, even the basic ones, are underwhelming and seem cheap. Overall this pizza just has a feeling of years of continuous price cuts as far as their ingredients are concerned. It may have been impressive in their heyday, but is no longer. Zoey’s Pizza is the best pizza you’ll find around the I-135 corridor.
God I love Luca’s pizza and spaghetti and meatballs!
Yummy!. We hadn’t eaten at a Luca in years. The only one near us used to be in the gwood mall. We stopped in for lunch today and they were busy, busy, busy! But that did not affect the service at all. It was super fast and friendly. We did a sampling of everything, pizza, breadsticks, calzone, panzorotti, stuffed breadsticks, cheese roll and garlic knot. Talk about carbs galore!! All of their offereings layed out before you behind some plexi, why even bother looking at the menu? Point to what you want and you get it. Their marinara dipping sauce is great and full of flavor. I had ordered a three cheese calzone, and the guy pulled it from the right spot, but I got a ham and cheese calzone. No worries, I picked the ham out. I was impressed with their calzones. They were the perfect size and loaded with ricotta and mozzarella cheese. And the butter crust is awesome. Out of everything we ordered bread-wise the cheese roll was above the breadsticks and knots. There is something special about their mozzarella cheese, just ooey-gooey goodness!
Wonderful spaghetti with meatballs. This is one of our go-to takeout places! Spaghetti with meatballs (wonderful garlicky chunky tomato sauce, delicious meatballs) and the Italian sub are favorites! Salads are fresh, and we love the garlic knots.
Really not feelin’ this place. A co-worker told me this was the best pizza and I would strongly beg to differ. For what you pay a pizza or a slice you’d be better off going to dominos or pizza hut. This is just. Greasy, doughy, mall pizza.
By the slice!. Luca has pizza by the slice with a lot more choices than you would expect. Pizzas are sitting around on the counter. Make your choice and they warm it up in the pizza oven. I had a Margherita pizza, which is just mozzarella, basil, tomatoes, and maybe garlic. I had pepperoni bread sticks. The crust is tasty real bread tasting crust. Since it’s warmed it’s crispy in a reheated way. It’s not the best pizza, but it’s good. It’s nice to be able to get pizza with no waiting and to have a choice of more than sausage, pepperoni, and cheese. The atmosphere is decent with a couple of HDTVs.
