Terrible Service, poorly managed/trained staff. I ate here today for the first (and last) time. First let me tell you there weren’t more than 12 diners in the whole place when I arrived. I was quickly seated and told who my server would be. About 10 mins later she arrived for a drink (coffee) and food order. The coffee arrived fairly fast. That’s the end of the positives. I waited and waited for my food. My waitress flew by a lot but there was no eye contact. Then a person sitting behind me, who arrived well after I did, received her food. Then my waitress ‘landed’ in the seat across from me and said she had accidently thrown my order slip away and she can’t remember what I ordered! I have never had that happen to me anywhere before so I was stunned and speechless for a few seconds. I thought about leaving but she said she would make sure I would get a discount when I checked out. I was hungry so I went ahead an ordered again. 10 mins later my food came out without the bacon (that I had especially stressed wanting). Then that came out nearly burnt. My over easy eggs were a bit too easy and the potatoes were salty. My ketsup was nearly empty and I couldn’t get her to ‘land’ again to ask for more. So I got it myself. No one seemed to notice. Then when she gave me the check she said she had given me the Senior discount for the inconvenience. I told her I already would get that and she looked for puzzled so I just let it go.I paid (she checked me out) and I did tip. I don’t know what the heck was going on but the energy in there was just ‘off’. I will NEVER return and I was chalking it up as I walked out the door.
We found Egg & I to be a great local addition. Having eaten at the original in Estes Park, Colorado this is a taste of vacation in central Indiana. The food is wonderful and service prompt and friendly. You should give The Egg & I a try!
Foods good – terrible atmosphere. The food is pretty good. I have been a few times and I have enjoyed the meals. The real problem in this restaurant is the management. The owners daughter runs the place and based on my observations she has ZERO management experience. Our server forgot some toast (no big deal) but I could see her in the kitchen getting yelled at. Lady – treat people with respect no one deserves what I saw. I will NOT be returning based on the fact I will not support that management style. Shame on you!All the servers were very nice too bad the manager was so unprofessional.
One of my favorites. I had wonderful food and wonderful service. it was a great experience and they were very busy at the time so I was impressed.
Breakfast is my favorite meal and although they had plenty of selections, the food was terrible. Lacking in flavor, extremely bland, and less than appetizing are the best ways to describe the food. We will NOT be returning there.
Worst Servie in Town. My wife and I frequent breakfast/brunch places and were excited to try this new place. Well, my suggestion, don’t waste your time. The hostess was rude, and they made us wait 10 minutes for a table despite the fact that there were MULTIPLE open tables and plenty of servers (standing around talking to each other). When we were seated it took 5 minutes ot even be recognized. The server looked uninterested and barely talked ot us. She took our drink order (coffee and hot tea) and left. 15 minutes later, still no coffee, tea, or even WATER! I told another server, who did NOTHING. Then I told the hostess; still nothing. I finally asked for a manager, and after 20 additional minutes of waiting, we left. No appologies, no attempt to serve us. Everyone around us was sitting with either no drinks or no food. Such a disappointment. The food may be good, but we will never find out. When I go to a restaurant, I expect at least a nominal level of service. This place comes nowhere near that level. I even called the restaurant to speak to a manager. As of now, no reply..
VERY VERY VERY DISAPPONTED. My wife and I decided to try the Egg and I restaurant yesterday for breakfast and was very disappointed. I order biscuits and gravy with eggs and ham. When I received my meal the gravy tasted as though it had cumin spice in it. In country biscuits and gravy? Cumin? Nahhh! The ham was a very thin and was cold. We sat for the longest time for our meals. My wife couldn’t eat her food. Scratch this one off our list.
