El Taco Real is a local favorite, known by everyone on the Chicago border. This restaurant has been around for years and is a staple of the community. I’ve tried everything here over the years, and the taste has remained as authentic and flavorful as ever. The soaps, tostadas, enchiladas, tacos, and tamales are amongst my favorite. I used to always order the pork, which is tenderly seasoned for hours (pork tacos and tamales being my absolute favorite). In recent years, I’ve become a vegetarian, so my options are a bit more limited. Luckily for me, there’s more for me to eat than just rice and beans here (which are outstanding, by the way). You can order the Suizo (original cheese) style for practically anything, and it’s still tasty! Get that and a plate of cheese and jalapeos, and that’s enough! One of my favorite things about the restaurant is that you still see the family working in house and the locals coming back. The bar is packed with them as families fill the dining room. The prices have increased in recent years, but the portions are still big and the flavor bold. This restaurant speaks to my childhood. If anyone is in the area, I force them to stop here. It’s a must for the Region.
Right…soooo…. I went to El Taco Real based on reviews I saw here. Basically, I would rather sell a kidney, half my liver, and have some skin grafted before I go back. Service was poor, and it wasn’t busy. Salsa was tomato soup. Food was edible, but not good at all. Yikes!
Give me a break. This place is HIGHLY OVER RATED. I just visited last week. Not impressed with there bland carne asada, cold tortillas. I prefer EL SALTO MEXICAN RESTAURANT. Just came from there and they are always on POINT!
I have been coming to El Taco for 20 years. The service is always friendly and the food is great. My out of town asks me always to take them to El Taco again when they come to visit. Had many good times there. They makeme feel at home there.
Very nice, friendly wait staff. Food is delicious and delivered promptly. Portions ample. It’s fun to eat here.
NW Indiana has no shortage of authenic Mexican restaurants. This one has been around for awhile and has a great following. I can’t remember having a bad meal here. One of my top 5 favorite Mexican restaurants in NWI.
Very limited menu. Food is tasteless. Go to taco bell and avoid the drive. Just didn’t like it at all.
