3 Thumbs down for Binion’s at Hammond Horseshoe. 3 people have gone to Binion’s for many years now on Christmas Day…yesterday (12/25/14) was no exception. However, things seemed to have changed drastically at this once fine dining establishment. 1. Waiter couldn’t be bothered and must have walked by our table at least 20 times in the 1 1/2 hours we were seated.2. Took 10 minutes to get bread (the bread was delicious).3. Kept having to ask to have water glasses refilled.4. Petite cut filet, ordered medium rare (RED with WARM center) came out medium (pink). Didn’t bother to send it back because the waiter never asked how things were either. And if I had sent it back who knows how long I would have waited. This was Christmas Day around 6 in the evening so the place WAS NOT busy at all. No excuse to ignoring table.5. Rack of Lamb was ordered. Out came 6 lollipop chops! It is apparent that whomever was grilling back there didn’t know what they were doing! A rack of lamb, is just that…A RACK OF LAMB! Not 6 chops (which were tough).6. Ordered the mashed potatoes with caramelized onions. Appeared to be instant mashed with greasy onions thrown on top. Now I’ve made instant mashed but these were the consistency of wall paper paste. Mashed potatoes should have LUMPS of potatoes in them.The only good points of the dinner was the bread & salad. 2 cesaers and a wedge salad.Shame we paid over $200 for dinner and now they have the nerve to let you know on the bill what percentage to tip based on your bill!!! Really??? We are excellent tippers, even more so during Christmas (I gave my hairdresser a $30 tip this Xmas and my haircut was $50) and yet this waiter could have cared less about serving us. We weren’t expecting fawning service, but this was ridiculous. So he got a very generous $40 tip which is 20%…if the service was better he would have gotten $60. Not going back in 2015.Very disappointing to say the least
