Excellent. I have been going to this restaurant on average at least once week for lunch. The food is always good. The spices and flavoring are perfect. I like their Salmon rolls. Their sushi is made to order fresh and love the desserts as well!
These reviews are old so I thought I would add a new one with a fresh perspective. the food is excellent. I sat at the sushi bar, received prompt service, and when my food came out it was very fresh. the sushi chef has cured the fish himself with nine years of experience. I ordered mackerel nigiri sushi and it was not over cured, nor was it dry. the flavor was delicate and fresh without the overuse of lemons… in my opinion that is a tough balance to pull off since mackerel tends to be a stronger fish. this rice is a perfect balance between sticky and sweet. it is not too sweet. the restaurant is clean and reasonably priced for the food. I loved it!
SLOWEST< MOST HORRIBLE SERVICE EVER!!. Let me preface this review by stating that I consider myself to be an extremely laid back individual. So much so that this is the first time in my LIFE that I have ever written a review on ANYTHING!!A co-worker and myself visited the Bistro yesterday afternoon for lunch.(2/21/2013) As we entered the establishment there were three employees at the door. All of whom did not acknolwledge our presence in the slightest. We stood at the door for a good ten minutes before ANYONE asked us how many were in our party. (1st RED FLAG!) Finally we were greeted and seated in the downstairs dining area. We sat looking at the menu and watched as three other groups of people were immediatley seated and waited on. At this point, we had not even been acknowledged by our server. (2nd RED FLAG!) As we sat for 10,20,then 30 minutes, finally some one asked us if someone had taken our drink order! Had we not been involved in good conversation, we would have left. However, at this point, I was livid, and slightly curious as to actually how bad the service was going to be. At first we laughed and poked jokes. Then after 35 minutes, we finally received our drinks and placed our order. By the time we received our drinks, the people that were sat AFTER us had already eaten their lunch and paid! After we had sat for nearly an hour waiting on our food, it had arrived. The dishes were awful! (Not to mention they had totally screwed up BOTH of our orders) At this point it was too late to ask them to fix our order. The food was average(at best). We then proceeded to ask for the check, not once, but three seperate times! I threatened to walk out with out paying if the check was not brought out to us immediatley. The owner came to the table to deliver the check and I proceeded to politely explain my frustrations to her(I usually do NOT complain when upset at a resteraunt). She became visibly disgusted by my complaints and responded that they were short staffed and doing the best they could. I was ready to EXPLODE! I have never in my life seen such horrible service. I will never return to the Bistro Chopstix and would strongly encourage any else to do the same! Unless you have an entire day to waste!
We’ve been here twice for dinner. Great to have another choice downtown. They did a really good job on the tempura, bibimpap ( rice bowl with veggies & bbq beef ) and 3 sushi dishes we ordered. Nice, cool local neighborhood give. Owner greeted everyone and chatted with them. Lots of regulars came in & it was hugs all around. Good food & atmosphere. We love to support LOCAL restaurants.
The Denny’s of Japanese Food?. Mediocre at best. Some of the items definitely seemed like they were from a food service. Portion size on the bento box was great, but the veggie tempura was quite greasy.
Won’t Be Back. When I was struck with a mid-morning sushi craving I decided to swing by Bistro Chopstix for lunch. After lurking in the door for a few minutes, my lunch companion and I were shown to a table. Although two different waiters made eye contact with us, no one came to deliver menus or take drink orders. After sitting for 15 minutes, we left and went elsewhere. I’ve actually EATEN at Bistro Chopstix before and tend to like their sushi; however, it’s probably not a good choice for a weekday lunch as even on a good day the service is slow.
