Bosphorus Istanbul Cafe is not friendly to those with allergies or intolerance’s. They do not understand what a dairy allergy is or a gluten intolerance. Disappointed that they left the rice out of order. Rice is gluten-free and can be made easily without dairy.
Went with a friend. We shared the appetizer platter which was delicious! Hummus, tabouli, baba ganoush, dolma, eggplant salsa–yum! Shared a bottle of Turkish wine and finished off with Turkish coffee and tiramisu. Fresh, made in-house, and perfect for 2 to share!

I studied abroad in Istanbul and this totally took me back to my experience there! The restaurant was beautiful and nicely decorated, the staff and owner were so nice and friendly, and the food was amazing. The dolma were very delicious as was the Adana wrap. Their lentil soup was to die for! The other people at the table loved their dishes as well. Overall I was very impressed! It was very authentic and made me feel like I was back in Istanbul. I wish I lived in Indianapolis so I could eat at The Bosphorus all the time but we are just in town visiting for a convention. I definitely recommend this restaurant! You can’t go wrong!
Awesome experience!!. After reading all the positive reviews and having a Restaurant.com coupon for $25 off we decided to check this place out last night. We live in Brownsburg, so it was about a 25 min drive to get there. Anyway, we decided to let our server pick our food for us. Started off with the Appetizer Combo, all six items where very good. Usually there is one item a person would not like but we liked them all. The Eggplant Salsa was my favorite. Next we shared the Veggie Lover plate called the Turkish Delight, it was totally awesome!! Then being a meat lover, our waiter brought out The Bosphorus Special plate piled high with several different kinds of meat. All meat was very tasty and moist. We will definitely be coming back to this place bringing our friends next time. Might have to make reservations for our neighborhood group of about 15 to 20 people. Final analysis, for what you pay and what you get, this place is definitely worth the drive. We tipped our waiter $25 (the price we saved on the Restaurant.com coupon) because he did such a great job in recommending what to eat. And the service he provided was outstanding throughout the entire meal. We did talk with the owner as we were leaving, was very enjoyable meeting him. Thanks again 🙂
The hummus and naan/pita… WOW. The veggies are seasoned and cooked to perfection. Definitely added to our rotation.
Great food..great experience. WHAT A TREAT!! Starting off, there was VERY convenient parking right next to the building. We didn’t have a reservation, but that wasn’t a problem on a Tuesday night. The owner said it’s much busier on the weekends, so you might want to consider that. We thought the dining room was very clean and comfortable, with no loud music blaring. We really appreciated and enjoyed the quiet. The dcor was very authentic Turkish. Deborah L. Flowers and I started with their appetizer combo for 2. (could have easily satisfied 3 or 4). It was a plate with hummus, tabouli, stuffed grape leaves, babaganush and pepper delight. LOVED IT!!! Deborah had the Bosphorus Special for dinner, and took at least half of it home! It had chicken kebab, kofte, doner, shish kebab, adana kebab and chicken adana kebab!!$18.95 ( I went for the lamb chops – which was the special of the day. (not on the menu). I got 4 VERY tender and tasty lambchops with salad and rice. ($16.95) I’d never had lambchops before, so I don’t have anything to compare them to…but they were DELICIOUS!! Bosphorous makes their own version of baklava, which was made with syrup instead of honey, and gave it a WONDERFULLY soft texture!! It was served warm with whipped cream. Overall, this was EXACTLY what we look for when we’re ready for an ethnic dining experience. I highly recommend it for a date-night…or some other special occasion….or if you’re just looking for something exotic for the evening!
