Not for me. This place has a nice environment, and the wait staff was friendly. The Caprese salad app was delish, however the entres were not go great. I had the pork chop with an apple and onion chutney, mashed potatoes and veggie of the day, which was cauliflower and broccoli. The chop was good, the chutney was different, and decent. The mashed potatoes however, were extremely peppery and I totally was not expecting so much spice. The amount of pepper was very overwhelming and was felt in the back of my throat each bite. The flavors were not working for me with this dish. The cauliflower and broccoli mix was disproportioned. I didn’t realize I had broccoli until half way through the meal when I discovered three tiny florets buried in heaps of cauliflower. My date ordered Pasta Arrabiata. The sauce was good, but the rigatoni was undercooked and chewy. In hindsight, it should have been returned if we weren’t so hungry. A bit on the pricey side for the care and quality. The burgers and chicken sandwiches might be a safer bet, but I’m not sure if I will return to find out.
Menu has been devoured…. I stopped in looking for simple, casual, neighborhood fare. They were only offering a three-course Devour Downtown menu for a fixed price of $30. I’ll be reviewing the experience later, but the bottom line is that sometime it’s best to KISS: Keep it Simple, Stupid! The online menu is approachable and simple–sandwiches and salads. For Devour, they’re offering apps, steaks and desserts…on plastic plates. Time to go back to their simple roots instead of going big. I cannot believe our casual night out ended up being $85 for overcooked ribeye and dessert with plasticware. I do not recommend the Devour Downtown experience here at all. diningwithstacy.blogspot.com
Food was excellent! I had the cheeseburger with motz cheese, fried onions and BBQ. The patty itself was top notch, perfectly cooked quality beef. Wait staff was very attentive, helpful, and friendly.
Try this place!!! Wow. What a surprise! Great food. Good beer and good service. Wings awesome and chocolate pop wow!!!
Worth a visit. My husband and I have been to Ember several times over the past few weeks. We have taken friends and family with us, and all have loved their food and drinks. My husband LOVES the 4 cheese pasta and gets it often. My brother is a big fan of the brisket and stated the wings are some of the best he has tasted. I loved the caprese appetizer, yes, it is challenging to eat, but the bread was warm and tasty. Everyone we have every had try this proclaim it delicious. I am working my way through their menu, and look forward to our next visit and introducing more friends to this great place. I give thumbs up to the flat iron and the hamburger, but I can’t leave out the chicken sandwich. They also have tasty soups, and the salads are light and the vinaigrette is light and flavorful. The soups have all been good, I have yet to catch the French onion soup that I hear is delightful. See you soon Ember!
I would be willing to try again if they made some improvements.. Things I liked: the staff/service, the atmosphere and building. It was clean and cozy. The dessert was small but good. Things I didn’t like: Trying to figure our where to go in, the music that made me have flash backs of the early 90s, the beer prices($6.00 a pint for Blue Moon) and the portion sizes(too small).Things that I thought were so-so: The food concepts were a good idea just poorly delivered. The roasted caprese sounds fancy but really it is just kind of unwieldy and difficult to get on the bread. It wanted to be caprese meets bruchetta but just kind of failed to deliver. The four cheese pasta was not filling or cheesy. The pasta was bland and lacked cheese of any kind but breadcrumbs it did have. Also the pasta came with a small salad which tasted fine but it is not awesome to have your salad brought to you in a warm bowl, yuk. They are new so assuming they continue to find their way I would be willing to try it again in the future but it is not somewhere I would recommend.
Best New Spot on Virginia Ave. Because it’s not pretentious, slow and filled with food dorks, this is the best new spot along Virginia Avenue. Good food, decent space and nice people working there. It’s a keeper.
