Yes, that horseradish cocktail sauce really does pack a punch. Actually gave me a shiver!
Had a fabulous dinner here. My grandfather is from out of town and a steak guy so we wanted to take him to a local place. The food was excellent and their service was outstanding.
Soggy bun, but not to bad
All Hype. I will give this restaurant a 3 star rating.I’ve always wanted to eat at Harry and Izzy’s but never had a chance to until this Devour Downtown week. So I went and had the Shrimp Cocktail: it was really good. shrimp was big, each shrimp probably took 3 bites to finish. little did I know, or my server didn’t really care enough to share, that the spiciness level of the cocktail sauce can be catered to the diner. The one I had was very spicy, very good but very spicy. It’s one of the two reasons I give this a higher rating than 1 or 2.French Onion Soup: only plus is it’s so unbelievably over the top cheesy, but that’s it, the broth could have been better, the bread too. I’ve had better French Onion Soup from a nondescript restaurants.Prime Rib sandwich: i had a bite of the whole thing, and thought, wait that’s it? so i decided to deconstruct it, and ate the bread by itself which was BLAH, dipped in the horseradish sauce it was okay. the prime rib itself was good and that’s the 2nd and last reason H&I are getting an average vote for me. It was melt in your mouth and tender, but the sandwich doesn’t do it justice. and when you get served soup and the salad at the same time, it’s hard to get to one without getting the one cold by the time you eat it.Creme Brulee: portion was humongous for a creme brulee, it had that crisp caramelized sugar on top that you had to break through, but that was it for the excitement. I’ve had better creme brulee’s from a first class cabin in an international flight.Overall, don’t go here for the sandwiches or soups. Steaks maybe and the shrimp cocktails.
Pleasant atmosphere and fine food. I grabbed an early dinner on the sidewalk patio without a reservation. The strip steak was excellent, plentiful, and cooked as ordered with interesting mashed potatoes as a side. Basic red wines were unremarkable at $9 and $11, service was satisfactory. I’d go back.
The service is fantastic and The filet sliders recommended by the waitress were amazing!!
Huge sandwiches and really great service and food. I never leave food on my plate, but I had so much I couldn’t finish my pork tenderloin sandwich. Husband said the same about his steak burger.
