We decided on pizza after having waited two hours at Bluebeard. The service was a bit slow at first but did pick up. House salad was nice. Deep dish pizza was good, the sauce is sweet…not my preference but good nonetheless. Overall a good experience.
The pizza wasnt great but it wasnt bad either. I ordered the chicago style deep dish with pepperoni, mushroom, and green peppers. It just taste like spaghetti with crust. The owner was extremely rude. I had a party of 12 we called ahead and when we arrived he was mad that we had a large group. He said he couldnt serve a large group. After talking with him and him being very aggregated, they did combine 2 tables for us we started to move another table over as we were in an empty room and could not sit a party of 12 at 2 tiny tables. When we began to move another table he screamed at us . They were extremely rude the whole time . If this werent preplanned we would have left.
We ordered delivery and had the best deep dish pizza! Great flavor and highly recommend ! (Pepperoni, onion, fresh tomatoes and garlic). First time and will order again!
Stopped in first time before it was busy. We sat outside and listened to the 40 and 50s style music which added to the setting of the place. We got the Italian beef and sausage sandwich which came with peppers and dipping broth. It was huge. We had a side salad that was big enough to split. Good selection of beer. Waiter and owner talked with us for a bit. Great place and glad we tried it. Looks great for takeout too.
Great evening sitting outside and people watching. I had the cheese mini pizza with mushrooms and tomatoes. Delicious! Sun King Cream Ale, too. Our server Kristen was friendly and attentive. Not much more to say except to suggest you go there for the pizza.
I’d give it 4 our of 5 stars. I ate there for lunch. They have an all you can eat lunch buffet with deep dish pizza and salad bar but I opted for a thin crust sausage and mushroom. The pizza was pretty good and exactly like pizza you’d get in Chicago, and yes, I’ve eaten Chicago thin crust. The crust was nice and light but I would have liked it cooked just a little longer. The flavor was really good and I’d go back again. The staff, I think the owner waited on me and he was really nice and the rest of the staff seemed pleasant.
Neighborhood Staple. We order from South of Chicago whenever we’re in the mood for pizza. Sometimes there is a wait, but we’ve never been disappointed. We live in the neighborhood and walk by frequently. It’s obviously a popular place; the tables outside and inside nearly always seem to be occupied during lunch and dinner hours. Don’t know the owners, but would definitely recommend their pizza… and meatball sandwiches. Salads too!
