Things never change at St. Elmo. It is the gold standard of steakhouses, no matter where you travel you will always compare others to St. Elmo. Service is fantastic, no matter what time you are there. Even though the talking heads on sportscasts namedrop, things are still the same.My order: Shrimp Cocktail, Porterhouse (rare), House Wedge salad (bacon, tomatoes, killer Gorgonzola), Brussels Sprouts, Butter CakeThe Fetching Mrs. Rat: Shrimp Cocktail, Filet (medium, I can’t break her of that), Spinach Salad, Baked Potato, Creme BruleeYou can’t go wrong with the Prime Rib and the Sliced Tomato & Onions with the aforementioned Gorgonzola.I can’t believe the negative reviews. I don’t think they actually visited St. Elmo.

Cool place with a cool atmosphere with a cool history. I had their famous cocktail shrimp with the super spicy cocktail sauce and it was a worthwhile experience. If you need you me sinuses cleared, get that. I had the filet which was excellent. The Pop’s Old Fashion was tasty as well. Try this place but expect to pay some loot.

This place is always on my list when I come to Indy! The burger and ingredients are fresh and your burger will come loaded. There is definitely no skimping here. I have been coming here for the past 6 years every time I am in town for a conference. I make sure to find time to go while in town even if its ordering delivery. They have so many toppings to choose from! If you are going all out and not watching your carbs indulge in the garlic bread. It is amazing! Dont come to Indy without trying this place!

Wow! This was a fantastic meal!!! Start to finish, there were no complaints. I got the Sangria and the touch of cinnamon was amazing! Everything was cooked perfectly! Plating was great! Service was great! When can I go back!?!

This was a great dining experience. We were in town for basketball and several friends told us we had to eat here. The restaurant is rich in history and has excellent service. The food was great and the atmosphere was dark and busy. The service is top notch and a large number of employees have many, many years of service at this restaurant. That alone speaks volumes and is impressive. They are apparently known for their shrimp cocktail so my husband ordered one. There are no other appetizer options except a salad, it’s shrimp cocktail or salad. Every meal also comes with your choice of tomato juice or navy bean soup. I was taken back by this choice since it is an odd one. It has something to do with the history of the business but I cannot remember the details. They will explain it if you go. You can choose to turn your tomato juice into a Bloody Mary and that’s just what I did. It was fabulous! I am very particular about Bloody Mary’s and usually only like it if it’s made with Zing Zang. I don’t know what was in this drink but it was great. This particular night they also offered a lobster bisque and my husband enjoyed it as well. There was a nice drink menu as well. As for entrees, my husband always orders a filet and he said it was wonderful. I tried a bite or two and it was tender and flavorful. I ordered the yellowfin tuna and it was fantastic. The dishes were served with choice of side. We ordered mashed potatoes and a baked potato. We were stuffed and happy but forced in some dessert…creme brle and it was wonderful. This was our first trip to Indianapolis and I look forward to another visit. I feel certain we will go back to St. Elmo’s.

Went here for my mom and dads birthday. The service was excellent. The navy bean soup was a surprise hit. I had two bowls, it was delicious. The bread was also fresh and warm.I ordered the dry aged steak. It was cooked perfectly and far and away the best steak I’ve ordered from a restaurant. Expensive, for sure. But I left impressed.

Perfect evening. Amazing service, perfect drinks and outstanding steaks. Shrimp cocktail is a must to order. The sides are huge order one or maybe two to share. Steaks are cooked perfectly and very flavorful.
