REALLY??!!. First let me say that the service was impeccable. Beyond that, the food and experience were disappointing. The salads were uninspired, tired and tasteless. Not a single meatless meal on the menu. All the fish was the type responsible citizens don’t buy because of irresponsible sourcing. People must go there for the steak, but for those of us who don’t eat steak, there is little else of value there. There are way better options in town.
Service was absolutely amazing, too bad I can’t say the same for the food. Won’t be coming back!
This place is overpriced and disappointing. The porterhouse was not cooked properly and too salty. When returned and recooked, it remained inedible. That being said, the service was good, and the calamari was excellent.
Elegant and cozy. Restaurant is clean and easy to find. Service staff is very friendly and professional. Some of the seating areas in the restaurant are very cozy booths, while the slightly dim lighting in the evening promises for a romantic feel. The food is delicious, fresh and cooked to perfection. Expect to pay a little more, but therefore you will get great service and excellent tasting food. They also have a bar area in which you can eat and drink if you so chose, but I have never been at the bar and can’t leave an opinion on that. I would give it a thumbs up for a wonderful romantic dinner.
I went here primarily because I had an Olive Garden gift card to use, and I’m not a big fan of OG. Given the opportunity for a great steak, I normally choose Ruth’s Chris, where I’ve always had an outstanding experience. Sadly, the Capital Grille did not meet my expectations – especially with a Ruth’s Chris just around the corner. I ordered the only prime steak on the menu, which was overlooked (ordered MR, cooked M). My side (bacon creamed corn – delicious) was late. After another wait for a properly cooked steak, they did bring another portion of the side, though. After my family waited for me to finish, we decided to order dessert – coconut cream pie. We waited another 15-20 minutes for the ‘pie’ – which turned out to be a little coconut flavored pudding on a sugar cookie with a huge amount of whipped cream. If I hadn’t ordered the pie, I would have assumed it was a whipped cream cookie. In the end, at least the manager made up for the 2-hour experience by comping…nothing. At least I used up the OG gift card! Needless to say, I gave them a chance, but I’ll stick to Ruth’s Chris next time I want a great steak AND great service.
This is why chains exist, and why you want to go there over and over. Great bar with great drinks. Service and food are great, and even the sidewalk cafe is as good as it gets in Indianapolis.
I went with my boyfriend for our anniversary. They took the time to set up the table with rose petals and a card. The incredible service didn’t stop there…we were almost immediately greeted by a very chipper, Scott. He never left us waiting or wanting for anything. The food was just as amazing as the service. Calamari appetizer was crisp, fresh and the peppers nicely contrasted the seafood and cracker meal breading. Next, lobster bisque and a spinach salad with warm bacon dressing. They definitely don’t skimp…there were huge claw and knuckle pieces of lobster in the bisque and the salad was loaded with crispy bacon. For our main course we got filet, king crab legs and Chilean sea bass. I only have one word, divine. Afterwards, we were greeted with a flourless chocolate cake and flutes to toast another year…on the house. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
