Nice neighborhood hangout. I’ve driven past a hundred times, but it never registered that THIS PLACE was The Sinking Ship. When I saw them refer to themselves as ‘Indy’s Hockey Bar’ on Twitter, I had to find it. I enjoy the smart*ss tweets from whoever is in charge of their Twitter & Facebook accounts, and I like that they don’t seem to take things very seriously. That vibe carries through when you get there … it’s not a stuffy place. It’s homey. A little dark, but hey, it IS a bar. I went on a Wednesday night to grab a sandwich & watch a Blackhawks game on the big screen. And when they say Big Screen, they’re not lying. The bar proper was full of lumberjack types seemingly having a good time, and a few other tables were occupied with hipster-ish folks, sports-watching folks in hockey jerseys, and couples. The waitress was quick to my table and very helpful explaining the beer choices (I’m not a beer geek). The only problem I had was, in the darkness, the day-glo lights of the beer menu on the wall were really hard to read. So I opted for a Rum N Coke which was promptly delivered. Then I reviewed the menu – lots of choices that sounded yummy, but a little different from what was on their website. Not sure if they change seasonally, but I still had lots to choose from. I ultimately ordered a club sandwich and fries, also promptly delivered. Freshly made and ENORMOUS. Like, bigger than my face enormous. I ended up taking the middle layer of toast out so I could eat it without looking too much like a caveman. A very generous helping of fries which were cooked nicely was alongside the club.Nobody gave me grief for being a single female at a bar watching hockey & having a drink, no creepy people made me feel uncomfortable being there alone, and the parking area was well lit so I felt safe arriving & leaving. My total bill for the Rum n Coke, sandwich/fries and a regular Coke as a chaser was $15. Not bad at all. Oh, and the Hawks won. I’ll be back.

Could be a great spot. Went to the ship around midnight. They are usually open until 3am. Few patrons, several staff on duty. I brought some work pals after a downtown event that had never been to the ship. I talked it up as a cool bar my pals should know. You would think the Ship would pleased to see a group of 8 ready to order food and beer. One of the members of our group went to the bar and got a beer before we all figured out the seating situation. Then we waited for a waitress. And waited. And waited. The waitress was obviously ignoring us. Finally, she comes by after we basically flag her down. First thing she says – if you order from the bar don’t expect to get table service….I’m just letting you know for next time. We were floored. It was seriously childish. She could have handled a bunch of better ways , but instead was basically trying to teach us a lesson. Anyways the people I brought won’t be coming back any time soon . I will be going back because I am hockey fan. My unsolicited advice to the ship – be careful with those egos or you’ll be the next Brothers (empty).

Yum. We took some out-of-town friends to the Sinking Ship for dinner because one of our guests was vegan. Wednesday night proved to be a quiet night at the joint. Service was completely average – nothing really stood out as amazing. Food was tasty and fresh. Price was probably very average for the Broad Ripple area. Large selection of pub food. Will definitely go back.

The sunk ship. What should have been a fun night was spoiled by staff. Got a drink from the bar while i was waiting at least 3 members of staff where drinking on the job when i did get served the bartender short poured my drink guess that’s to cover there drinks the staff where drinking. large groups of people left complaining about music staff members controlled the jukebox even if you payed the extra credits they wouldn’t play next. The food was over cooked and started to smell bad as it cooled down in front of us sever was to busy drinking maybe ?? the only plus was there was plenty seating at 10pm on a Saturday night. Will not be going back and will be telling people not to go!! there are other bars in the area much nicer than this one make it your last choice

Really Good. The fried fresh jalapeno chips with Gonzo sauce were really good. The portabella stuffed sandwich was also really good.
