SO DISAPPOINTING! We had out of town guests (four hours away) come to stay at our home over this past weekend. We wanted to go out and try something new, so we thought The Tap would be a good place to try. Let me save you some time: it’s not! We ordered two burgers, a plate of the loaded tap fries, and 4 beers. It was a Saturday night, so we were ready to wait longer than usual for the food because of the time of day we went. THIRTY MINUTES later and still NOTHING at our table. I got the gist of our waitress purposely ignoring the tables that were waiting for their food. I had to stand up and ask somebody to grab our waitress because we still did not have our drinks yet at this point. 15 minutes later and she came back to apologize that she forgot to put in the order and that the fries would be on the house. Okay, that helped a bit so we accepted the fries and waited again for our order to be put in. ANOTHER 25 minutes later and still no beer or burgers. At this point, it got a little ridiculous. We had tickets for a movie approaching soon and we still did not have our food. In the end we had to cancel our order and leave. Our guests walked out with empty stomachs and a bad view of what Indianapolis has to offer in terms of quality restaurants. We will NEVER go back here again and I HIGHLY recommend nobody try this place either. I had high hopes and was so excited to try this place. The customer services is awful and that trumps all. I’ll be sure to spread the word about this place and my experience I am just that upset.
The sign at front door says seat yourself, but it always seems that this creates confusion with the staff. It’s like the waitstaff just assumes someone else will be taking care of you. Resulting in long delays in greeting and service. That said, I did enjoy the Caesar Salad once served.
This is a pretty good find. I was told about it from a bar tender friend of mine, so I figured I would check it out. The beer selection here is one of the best available. If you can’t find a beer to drink here, you’re probably not a beer drinker. I had multiple beers, taking the time to try some of their home brewed as well as some guest taps. We tried the fries for our appetizer. This selection comes with a basket of crisp fries and 4 dipping sauces. All four sauces are very good. After the appetizer we moved on and ordered our own entrees. I went with the Margarita pizza. This pizza was wonderful, just what I had in mind. My buddy went with the beer cheese burger. He said it was pretty good as well. The bar staff seemed pretty knowledgeable about the beers they sold as well. Good service, good food, and good beer means I will be coming back. I highly recommend The Tap.
This is one cool place. Large, with a big outdoor area which has a great gas fixture down the middle of a long table, where you can sit on either side. Fun to sit there if you don’t mind a little city grit and close-by traffic. Another gas fixture around which people were sitting. Anyway, it has a great looking bar, separate room upstairs, place for a band, etc. Not surprisingly, it has a huge selection of beers. Really among the top bars I have been to. We didn’t eat, except for some blue cheese chips, which were good. Looking forward to a return trip.
