Excellent service and good. Eddie and I had the best Valentine’s date. I had delicious escargot and he had the shrimp and grits. We shared the s’more dessert. That was alright. I had the Tempranillo wine. Not too shabby!
The food was lovely. Two of us had the vegan soba noodles on a puree of eggplant, fish tacos, and shrimp. However, I don’t recommend eating outside in the heat or lingering over the last dregs of wine while the waitress sends non-verbalized messages to vacate. The wait staff however is clearly schooled to please and did so diligently.
Design of the building (what was it before now) is minimalist and really well done. The wine list is VERY thoughtful – I talked to the sommelier who was very knowledgeable and very nice. Wine prices are outstanding – I always love when I here that they want to do volume vs. the usual restaurant wine gouging. Food was…pretty good. A couple items were great (the brussels sprouts stick in my mind), but some stuff was just ok (chicken schnitzel – good not great). Keep going, Tinker – you’ll be a destination spot soon.
Atmosphere is modern and old school swing chiming with the outdoor seating and summer evening breeze. Found my meal unique and flavorful with a jicama and cabbage slaw with plum slices topped with a medium herbed salmon. Vegan delights are all over this menu, lightly portioned and delicious.
Visiting my parents in Indianapolis and they took me to this little place called Tinker Street. WOW! What a fantastic dinner with such a friendly top notch service! I had a pork belly that could have started a revolution! Amazing a must have!
Good food, but portion sizes are very small. Wasn’t worth the price for the amount of food. The shrimp and grits were very good. Large wine selection
One of the Best. This is Peter George’s new restaurant at 16th and New Jersey and it is a hit with me! It has an attentive and enthusiastic staff which made you feel welcome, without being overbearing. Our server, Martin, is the best! I could so on and on about the service. Suffice it say, it was impecable. Next, the menu. Limited, but with something for everyone, including me, a vegetarian. Nothing over $19. Next, the food. The meal was started with a complimentary glass of Prosecco, a nice touch. I had the Tinker Soup, which was, last night, ‘dueling beets’ with red and golden beet puree and other good things. My entree was the Campanelle with English peas, morels, spring onion and parmesan. Delicious. My wife had the Romaine salad and the pan roasted chicken breast with snap peas and mushroom broth. She gave it a 10. Last, we had the berry shortcake. Just perfect. The decor is a trendy mix of exposed ceiling in a bistro-like setting plus a great covered outdoor area. This is must-return-to restaurant.
