Valentines Day. I’ve never had a reason to complain until Feb 14 this year. Specials were advertised on a big sign at the front door telling customers if you order one of them, you will be entitled to some complimentary champagne. i ordered prime rib, one of the specials (worst I have ever had; not roasted but pre- sliced and cooked in a slow cooker). When I finished everything but the meat, I had to remind the waiter about the champagne. He knew nothing about it and had to leave to find out. Shortly, he came back with an opened bottle and a tiny little glass. He said we were not supposed to have a glass full and proceeded to pour probably one good swallow or enough for one toast. I say if management wants to use champagne as a marketing tool – THEN GIVE THE CUSTOMERS ENOUGH TO KNOW THEY HAD SOME.
I’ll be back. I’ve lived around this area for a few years, and have had a hard time finding a place I really liked to eat. My mother suggested trying Lord Ashley’s because she noticed the parking lot is full when she drives by on her way to work. I wasn’t expecting much, wow was I surprised.I saw several things that I wanted to try but stuck with the Ruben so I could have something to judge by. It was delicious and huge. I took half my sandwich home. My mother had their Chicken Alfredo (She let me taste it and it was very yummy), Her’s was also a huge portion and she took half of it home. That you can get at least two meals out of one order makes the price very reasonable. The kids menu offered more then just one choice for my 2 year old picky eater. My Daughter ate almost every thing on her plate. There are so many other dishes on the menu that I would like to try, and now that I know how well they can do standard dishes I can’t wait to try the other options. As for service I found them to be very pleasant, and helpful. The owner was there, and he even came over to refill our glasses, and have a nice little chat about my daughter’s age and his own grandson. As we left my daughter went over to the tree they have up for Christmas, and they offered her a candy cane. She was delighted, and talked about her candy cane all the way home. I will be back often if this is always the experience. 🙂
This place has changed big time! It is now a non-smoking establishment and the food tastes 100% better. The owner seems friendlier and his wait staff is attentive. Yes, I’ll be back often and bring others!
Friendly, caring wait staff, good food ranging from traditional mid-western comfort food to surprising selections with unique, chef inspired entrees with creative sauces and marines. I guess I’m one of the boring, unhealthy retired patrons that Bob Bridges mentioned in his uneducated and unintelligent review. Easily 9 out of 10 of those regulars are retired military, retired fire fighters or ex cops and soldiers. Boring Bob? Unhealthy Bob? What have you done with your life? How many countries have you experienced culinary offerings in? From the looks of the restaurants you don’t like here in Indy, I I believe folks interested in a true dining experience would be wise to ignore any and all of your self absorbing, egotistical reviews.
Disappointing. Potato skins were half spuds, with barely melted cheese and were cold inside. The French dip buns was no more than acceptable. Lastly the decor was old school nice, the smell of stale smoke stll hangs on my clothes. Sad…it used to be a great place.
Always friendly…. Sit at the bar and be greeted by the regulars. Sit at a table and enjoy the music. Either way the best burgers in town, and it was on special for less then $5 – My personal favorite: The Long Island Tea.Great Food, Great Company, Great Value
This place is your run of the mill neighborhood bar/grill with a slightly larger menu than most. The food was average at best and the customer base is mostly made up of unhealthy, annoying, retired people.
