We’ve eaten at this establishment in the past and were not surprised that service was less than what should be desired. Tonight’s meal took the cake for the worst service. After waiting for 15 minutes for the server to take our order, we received a meal that wasn’t complete and was the worst made sushi I had ever eaten. It fell apart in your chop sticks. When seeking management to lodge our issues, we proceeded to get haggled over what was eaten and what wasn’t, further tainting the experience. They even tried to suggest that we didn’t know how to eat sushi, insisting that we demonstrate for them. I have been here at least a dozen times, and tonight’s visit was the last time.

Unfortunately this is the only sushi place on the near Eastside…. Plan on long waits and terrible service. The good side is that if you ever get your food, and if you get lucky enough to get what you ordered it actually is good. I would recommend going somewhere else.

Not sure we will return…. It was decent but that is all.The rice lacked flavor. no hint of vinegar. it was just bland and pasty. The fish in the sushi rolls, even the more expensive ones, was almost non-existent. When you eat a sushi roll you should taste the fish. Instead it was like popping a tasteless mushy rice ball in your mouth. The fish i could taste seemed slightly old.Their miso soup was watered down. Their bento box that my husband had was adequate and he would order that again, but the portions were smaller than he has had at other sushi places. The gyoza were fine.25 Nov, 2013We stopped here over the weekend. Staff was nice enough but the food was just ok. Miso soup tasted more like chicken broth and was lukewarm. My husband got a Philadelphia roll which had salmon cream cheese and cucumber and avocado inside. It was 3/4 cucumber / avocado and 1/4 was the salmon and the cream cheese. I got a couple others and our overall impression was they are stingy on their fish in the rolls, and the sushi rice had no flavor as if it was too waterlogged and did not taste of vinegar at all. We were disappointed. Bento box lunches were ok. The prices were typical but too expensive for the quality of the food. Will not likely return as there are several much better options

So so. For the only sushi place with in a 15 minute drive, it’s ok. When I first found this place I used to go a lot. Their lunch special is a good deal. But I think Naked Tchopsticks out does them on quality and what you get for the price. I have a roll that I get that is cream cheese and crab… They charge $9. I get a roll from Naked T that has cream cheese, crab, spicy tuna, avocado, spicy shrimp, tempura fried and in sauces for $15… And I’m full. I will tell you why i stopped going. I went to pickup a to go order on a Saturday night… We opened up the box when I got home and it was instant expired fish smell. We narrowed it down to the shrimp being bad. I just couldn’t imagine how many people got served spoiled fish on that saturday night. I don’t know how this place stays open.

Best sushi in town. This may well be the best sushi restaurant Ive ever been to. And Ive been all over the country eating sushi.

This place is terrible. Please don’t waste your money!!! The sushi is at best sub-par. It tastes like prepackaged grocery store quality. They charged us fifty cents extra for about a tablespoon of fish sauce!!!My boyfriend ordered their Mongolian grill… It was Chinese takeout chicken and fried rice.Seriously, do not waste your time here. There are much better quality sushi restaurants in Indianapolis for not much more.

Don’t be put off by the exterior. Inside, Oishi is quite pleasant. The sushi and service were fabulous.
