My husband had made reservations at Bynums Steakhouse in Martinsville for my Birthday and Valentines Day last night. He was told 6:30, someone came and took our name(she didn’t write down anyone’s name on paper). She started letting people go in front of us that had came in after us(seemed like people who might have been regular customers that she knew). At 7:00 we walked out the door and we won’t be back. I agree the place looks dirty and looks like a fire hazard, people had to exit the same door and little waiting area where we were all crammed in waiting to be seated.

This place is difficult to rate. It’s in a weird spot to drive in to. The inside is old and choppy (maybe that’s part of the charm?). The menu is very limited and your choices are limited. I ordered a chicken salad and it came with apples and orange slices. Our waitress raved about the wonderful blue cheese house dressing. I found it just bland. It was a high priced meal for just mediocre food. Just not what we were expecting. The other people who were with me ordered chicken and steak and were underwhelmed as well. For the price we paid we expected fabulous food, atmosphere and service, none of which we got.

First off the Bynum’s in Martinsville is night and day compared to Indy. My fiance and I could not help but laugh. The staff attire was something from a hoedown or a bad TV movie from the 90s. Cut off denim shorts is not acceptable where you pay $30-$50 for a steak. We should have know this was going to be bad when a salad bowl of Butter Churn and Country Crock were sitting at the table. The service was not great. We were brought out a store bought loaf of white French bread wrapped up in a crumpled napkin. The soup was so disappointing I can’t even explain it. The soup was served with a large flat spoon not a soup spoon! Salad was served in a 1980s salad bowl that again was not good. The steak and potato was served on a small buffet plate so it was falling off the plate and impossible to cut. If you like vegetables you only gets a potato as an option. Usually restaurants do not serve both Coke and Pepsi products but wait this one does because they serve from cans!!!! They might as well have served it in the cans because the red cups felt like left overs from Pizza Hut. Taco Bell would be a better overall experience.
