I Like It!. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. One thing you can say about living there is that you have a great choice of food. I grew up with the best to choose from, crummy restaurants didn’t last too long. I’ve lived in Michigan City for about 10 years now. Eating choices are lean. It has gotten better though, India House and Nylah’s to name a couple, and of course there’s always been Gelsosomos Pizza (5 Stars) and Schoops (maybe the best burgers anywhere). But I had only recently gone to Gourmet House, I don’t know why, and I’m sad I wasted 10 years of my life. It is really great. Great friendly service, decor and the food is really good, plus I’m told no MSG. It’s become an at least once a week stop for my household. They would even be great if they were back in my old stomping grounds. My wife is picking up take out right now!
Gourmet House is Awesome!. I order carryout 3- 6 times a month from Gourmet House, our whole family loves it! My favorite is Orange Chicken and House Fried Rice ~ after eating those I feel total bliss! They have the most magnificent Chinese food around, and the decor in the restaurant is delightful! I like to think Bruce Lee is out back teaching the staff his moves! lol! Best place in town, gets my full endorsement!
Our favorite thing about Gourmet House is that they deliver! Their prices are reasonable, the food is always hot. I don’t like their egg drop soup but we love their egg rolls & fried rice.
So-so food. The food here isn’t the best I’ve eaten. It is okay. I read in another review here that this restuaruant doesn’t use MSG — uhmmmmm. Unless you have an allergy to MSG, how would you know? There are only three or four other oriential food places in MC; none as good as Tao Chen’s in Chesterton, IMHO.
Only went once, fried rice sucked, boneless spare rib was just ok. Egg drop soup was too thick. Service was good, food wasn’t horrible, but nothing great
