The Reason Muncie Sucks. Overpriced, over-decorated, too much on the menu and none of it is authentic or good. Watered down food cooked for customers they don’t respect (or they would cook it correctly). I keep giving this place chances but I’m done. The buffet is bland, but that is to be expected. Many Indian restaurants water-down the buffet so that all can enjoy it (even those who cannot eat very spicy food [dwankies]). However, at a good Indian restaurant you can order from the menu as you like and they will make it taste correctly. Not here! Here you pay 12-13 bucks for an entree and it tastes exactly like the buffet: tasteless. The raita is literally the worst raita I have ever had in my entire life. I don’t understand how anyone who has ever eaten Indian food in their entire life can make something that horrible; it must be canned or bottled. NOTE TO THE OWNERS: MAKE AUTHENTIC FOOD. IF YOU ARE NEPALI, EMBRACE YOUR CULTURE AND MAKE AUTHENTIC FOOD FROM THE HEART. I will literally eat at a hole in the wall if the food is good. Yours is not. Fix that. Anyone who reads this should check out the Indian truck-stop restaurant in Spiceland. It’s just that: a hole in the wall with AMAZING AUTHENTIC FOOD.

Disappointing! I go to indian restaurants a great deal, and also cook Indian food at home on occasion. The appetizer (chaat samosa) was interesting and very good, but everything else (aloo paratha, raita, a tandoori chicken, gulab jamun was very dull, and the service was dreadful – took forever to get a drink refill and just as long to get the bill. I get to Muncie a couple of times per year, and go to Indian restaurants often, but I will never come back to this one!

The food is ok, the server kept checking out my date which I found inappropriate. The ‘spicy’ is more of a mild. Most likely won’t go back

Visiting Muncie for a few days, I lucked into a dinner at Sitara. I frequent 4 Indian joints in my town, but I have never enjoyed food as tasty as the dishes I ate last night. I’m jealous of Muncie. I’m going back tonight before I leave town tomorrow. The meal started with the typical complimentary papadum crackers and dips (tamarind and mint). I don’t know how, but they nailed those. Just delightful, and something I’ve eaten but never truly enjoyed before. I ordered the vegetable pakoras and lamb saag (spinach). Their ghee must have been stirred by Shiva, so delicious, so creamy. Garlic and chile naan was fluffy, savory and warm. I had the cold leftovers for breakfast and loved it again. Yes, I dropped 30 bones ($8 for the Taj Majal beer), but I will do it again if I make it back to Muncie. Enjoy it while you can, y’all, it was pretty quiet in there for a Saturday night. Tonight, testing the new tandoori chef!

Disappointing. Muncie had been waiting for an Indian restaurant for years, and at first I thought Sitara was great. But now it has slipped into blandness and mediocrity. No matter how hot I say I want the food, it’s still the same bland food that I could feed to a baby. The complaints about poor service are, in my opinion, a reflection of the fact that the wait staff are not allowed to keep tips. I’d be unmotivated to provide decent service, too, if I were in their shoes. C’mon, Sitara! Give us authentic INDIAN food and treat your staff with respecct! If you do, I’ll come back!

Love it!. We have gone to Sitara several times now and have actually always had really great service (not sure about other reviews). We usually come with young children and the servers and owner are exceptional with them! The food is delicious (especially at dinner), and the lunch buffet is a great way to try lots of dishes at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend Sitara to anyone. We will definitely be coming back a lot!!
