Bland. Tried for the first time and after waiting 50 min for the fried chicken, my entire family was disappointed. Chicken was nothing more than rolled in plain flower and fried, green beans were soaked in bacon grease or lard, dumplings were soaked in what appeared to be Ramon noodle sauce with some strange seasoning, French fries had zero flavor, daughters hamburger was just above bar good grade. If you want bar food with a cold beer this is the place for you. Be prepared to wait it out though…
Disappointed. We went there to try after hearing people talk about how good the chicken was…..Chicken was good. Everything else was lacking. As a family of 4, we spent almost $80 for dinner!! This was including the Buy one get one 1/2 price dinners!! NO Children’s menu. They also discourage sharing! We went on a Tuesday evening….we received 4 pc chicken, french fries (the ONLY potato–no mashed, and baked are only available on the weekends), green beans (canned), dumplings (too much salt –I’m guessing celery salt since there were alot of celery seeds in the dumplings), slaw (or salad), and roll. There is alot of food, however for the price there should be! Needless to say, not impressed for the money. The atmosphere is very lacking: you enter through doors that attempt to keep the bar side separate….however once you enter the restaurant, there is only a short wall (that you can see over sitting) dividing the two areas–it’s more like a small town bar that serves chicken, than a restaurant with a bar. WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK due to the atmosphere and high prices-which is why I am guessing they do not put on line!!! We were very disappointed in our trip there. We will continue to go the Huber’s Restaurant (which is closer, great chicken, many choices and a children’s menu).
Large rolls. Ive driven by this place for 35 years and I finally got a chance to get some food here.I had the 8 piece chicken order along with some onion rings for takeout. The chicken was good, but not great, like I’ve heard many people say. The yeast rolls were pretty huge. Had to warm them up as they weren’t as warm or hot as the chicken. Definitely a tavern feel here.
The menu states that it will take time to prepare your food, but it wasn’t worth the wait! Unseasoned, tasteless chicken, food service onion rings, dried out yeast rolls fresh brewed tea that tasted like instant and terrible wait staff!!!! Stay away at all costs! Pooeyes is better!
Chicken house-A disappointment to the taste buds. One of my friend suggested that I and another friend have dinner at The Chicken House that was recommended. Our waitress did a nice job and was attended to our needs. The restuarant was clean, but plain. The food portion was overwhelming. The chicken was very disappointing. While the cook the chicken at time of order, it was very crisp-the wings so crisp that one could not get any meat from them. They do not offer mashed potatoes. The Yeast roll was big, but failed short in flavor-lacking a subtle sweetness like most yeast rolls. Green beans average…and the dumplings very bland….obviously, not homemade. Salad was good. Lots of untasteful food for around $17…Our gratuity for the three of us was added to our bill. We do not recommend this place….certainly not the 1/2 Chicken Meal. We rate this 1/12-2 stars.
GOOD CHICKEN AND MORE. If you leave here hungry it’s your fault.Good times.
How would you like your chicken?. With a name like Chicken House you would think the specialty would be chicken, and you wouldn’t be far wrong in this case. The Chicken House has some pretty good fried chicken, and the chicken fingers and fries are very tasty. They also serve other dishes, such as cheeseburgers and fried fish sandwiches, so the menu isn’t limited to chicken. If you can’t stand the smell of smoke, don’t bother, as it isn’t a non-smoking restaurant. They also serve alcohol, as it is a real roadhouse, complete with bar and several televisions for sports fans. The service is friendly, if somewhat spotty at times. Prices are pretty good, too. Nothing very expensive here. Plain American Roadhouse cooking. The fried chicken is worth the wait, as they fix it fresh when you order it. I will visit there again. The Google map has it located about a mile south of where it really is. Just keep going north past the horse farm, it will be on your left at the crossroads.
