We are huge fans of El Mundo in Louisville but we can’t get across the bridge with a new baby as easy as we used to. ISRAEL’S to the rescue! The food was great and the mole enchiladas had really great mole! Perfect texture! 4 out 5 because dinner with a beer/Margherita is best!Though you can bring in your own drinks.Get a 6 pack of Oculto from the Liquor Barn off the highway for 7 bucks and bring some friends!

This place was incredible! I have grown up in Louisville my entire life and have yet to eat real Mexican…until now! I had the Mayan quesadilla & my girlfriend had the seviche! Everything was done just right. I would highly recommend this place if you want to try something truly authentic. I can’t ever imagine how this place would get a bad review. Amazing!

My family and I ate here this evening and had a very unpleasant experience. We used to visit this place when it was La Rosita’s and decided to try it now that it’s back in its former location. To be honest, after tonight, I don’t think we will ever return. To begin, the salsa we were served with our chips had gone bad. They would not allow me to alter a dish to accommodate my lactose allergy (In fairness, the menu does say no substitutions, but I was hoping that perhaps leaving off the cheese and sour cream would not be a big deal.) The wait staff was awkward, unfriendly, and slightly clueless about solving problems. One of the orders that came out was messed up, and instead of apologizing and removing it to go fix it, they left it in front of us for several minutes, three of them debating what they should do with it before Israel came over and apologized and took it off our table. The food itself was delightful, but the overall atmosphere of the restaurant eclipsed the great-tasting cuisine. After the meal, I popped into the ladies’ room, only to discover the staff had left a dirty bottle of toilet bowl cleaner on the sink with evidence of the toilet on its lid. If a health inspector saw that, the place would be closed down instantly. We will never return to this place, which is a shame because La Rosita’s was a favorite of ours.

Used to eat here when Israel owned La Rosita’s and the food was always wonderful. Well, it’s as good as it once was and I’m glad he’s back at his original location on Market in downtown New Albany. I love this quaint and charming location and the interior has been much improved and it is full of Mexican/Mayan charm. This place serves Mexican cuisine, so don’t expect El Nopal type food or prices. Israel is a classically trained Mexican chef that prepares his native Mexican AND Mayan dishes. This is not your average Tex -Mex or even Mex-Mex place. This time, I had the beef empanadas, which were delicious. They were golden fried and perfectly seasoned. My friend had the beef soft tacos. They had a corn tortilla, fajita beef, onions/peppers and came with black beans, rice, and guacamole. They have chips and 3 different kinds of salsa (mild, extremely hot, and a guacamole) for a price of I think $3, which was worth it. The salsas are fresh and full of flavor. The service was great and the hostess and our server couldn’t have done a better job or have been any friendlier. Israel’s gets an A+ from me. I highly suggest giving this place a try!

Went for our anniversary. I can confidently say this is the best Mexican food in town! Many of our favorites from La Rosita are on the menu with several new additions. We had Ceviche Tecolutla, Cochinita Pibil, and Scallops Mayan (pic). All are recommended. 2nd pic is us with Chef Israel.

It IS as good as it gets. I have been to MANY Mexican restaurants and enjoy several of them very much. Israel’s Delicias De Mexico Gourmet is in a league of their own. Israel, Owner and Chef performs amazing artistry with food. Every dish is beautifully and colorfully presented, fresh and packed with flavors. It will be our new favorite restaurant. The service by Ashley was flawless. This isn’t a fast food joint so give Israel some time to build your masterpiece. The dcor is very nice and the music adds that Mexico ambiance for a true south of the border feeling. Your meal is going to be aMAYzing!!! I really can’t wait to go back. I am just sorry I waited so long to dine there after so many friends told me it is the BEST around. Thank you, Sabrina and Jonny for the recommendation. You were indubitably correct in your assessment.
