    This is our go too when we just don’t know what we want to eat lol. Literally because they have everything. I’m a pizza lover and burger lover AND BANG BANG SHRIMP LOVA! They have it all! There is so much seating the wait time is never excessive! Try them out! Also, the portion sizes are crazy big!

    Seriously, amazing mussels and fries. I had no shame in my game! I was using empty mussel shells to slurp up the delicious broth. I couldn’t stop. And the sauces that came with the fries. The pooka sour beer tasted devine. I will be back Brugge!

    Really amazing food. The fries alone are worth the trip–crisp and flavorful with a great seasoning salt. Mussels were super fresh and the dipping sauces an excellent touch. Had the crepe with Brussels sprouts and goat cheese-yum. Dessert crepes were good, but butter and sugar crepe is very plain. Go for the Nutella or lemon.

    I love living in Chicago, I have a long standing affair with New York City and I adore California wine country. But when it comes to Midwest, I will admit that I tend to have tunnel vision: nothing outside the Windy City seems to appeal to me. I am a hopeless Chicagoan whose best friend happens to live in Indianapolis. Wait, what?! How did that happen? After 20 or so of my BFFs visits to Chicago, I knew my number was up. I was headed to Indy. There are many reasons a Chicagoan can find not to visit Indianapolis. But as I got to know this Midwestern city, I found many more reasons to return. One of the BIGGEST reasons I now love to visit Indy is Brugge Brasserie.Located in Broad Ripple Village (somewhat akin to Logan Square neighborhood in Chicago), Brugge is Indianapolis answer to Hopleaf, a Chicago Belgian beer bar so popular, waiting for a seat there can take over two hours. Brugge doesnt boast extreme wait times but, to be honest, I would take any opportunity to dine there. In fact, I request a meal there every time I am in town. I am completely infatuated with this restaurant, its relaxed vibe, its handful of beers on draft (all brewed on the property) and, of course, the food!As is my habit, I like to sidle up to the bar at Brugge particularly when a bald and tattooed bartender who introduces himself as Cupcake is working. On one of my visits, Cupcake took us through the menu, giving recommendations, describing dishes with impressive detail, pouring samples of different brews to pair with food. Of all Brugge made beers I have tasted, I think my favorite is a boysenberry brew called Pooka: with just a hint of boysenberry, not sweet in the least, but rather tart and refreshing. Most popular: Triple de Ripple, a golden tripel so strong, you will be limited to just one as a policy here.When it comes to the food, mussels are a must! They are so delicious at Brugge, I have been known to finish slurping the sauce through a drinking straw! Dont believe me? See proof positive below. Try some of my favorites: Chili, Provencal and Belgian Classic. Or explore any of the other varieties, there is a dozen to choose from. All are served with frites and a choice of dipping sauce. I strongly favor the sea salt and sherry vinegar, perfect for fries. Some of the other highlights include delicious pickled herring, Brugge sausage board, waterzooi and duck confit mitraillette (sandwich). But honestly, there really isnt a bad dish at Brugge, so go ahead, order with abandon! Finish off the meal with a dessert crepe or, as we often do, with a glass of Innocent Bystander, a delicious rose moscato from Australia, best consumed on the Brugge patio overlooking the Monon trail.When in Indy do as the locals do: seek out Brugge, then settle in with a brew and some mussels. Before long you will be slurping sauce through a straw, I guarantee it. Just ask my BFF.{This review was originally published on November 1st, 2013}

    We stopped here to try the beer and came back for dinner. The Belgian beers are fantastic, as are the mussels and frites. It was busy but after eating here I can see why. We were planning on a crepe for dessert but didn’t have room. Maybe next time

    Great food, questionable service. I have a total love/hate relationship with Brugge. The best fries I’ve ever had in my entire life, and lemonade so sweet and fresh you almost pass up the stellar beers on their list. The downside here is the service. There’s one gentleman with a ponytail who is a fabulous waiter, I wish I could have his tables every time. Everyone else I’ve come in contact with there is just the worst. Snooty, difficult, uncompromising and slow. I’ve worked in foodservice since I was a highschooler, and I try to give restaurant workers the benefit of the doubt every time, but this place has a tendency to hire people who really push the envelope. Again, ponytail guy is magnificent and I keep coming back for their fries. God help you if you have a large party here, though. Be prepared to wait no matter how far in advance you call.

    Delicious; great service!. We ate here on Mother’s Day. It was obvious they were busy, but we were treated very kindly, and did not have to wait long for a table outside. We ordered a small order of the Frites and had 4 separate sauces to try a sampling. We really enjoyed all of them! I had the Brussel Sprout Crepes and it was absolutely delicious. My partner ordered the veal and pork meatloaf and was very pleased. We also were quite surprised with our bill. We will definitely be visiting again.
