I love a good steak and go to as many restaurants as possible to get one. The steak here had the overwhelming taste of being cooked in bacon fat though. If you’re like me then you want your steak to actually taste like steak and not like bacon. With the price point being in the range of St. Elmo’s this just can’t compare at all and ultimately left me disappointed. The atmosphere is fine and is great for a date night. However, you’ll find much better steaks elsewhere.
I tried to get reservations for 4 other Indy steakhouses prior to getting a table for New Years Eve at Fleming’s. Man am I glad those other places didn’t work out. The NYE special Fleming’s presented last night was the best meal I have ever had. The bone in filet mignon was a delight and melted like butter in my mouth. The Fleming’s potatoes were also a surprise. And the evening was started out right with a peach mule cocktail, best mule I’ve ever had. Our server, David, was fantastic. I can’t say enough good things about my first trip to Fleming’s, and it will henceforth be my first choice to ring in the new year.
I’ve eaten a lot of steak throughout the Midwest and the Wagyu Strip at Flemings has to be my favorite so far. I was upset that we didn’t get reservations to Elmos that night but I quickly changed my mind when I tasted this steak. My wife got the Filet and while it was good she agreed that the Wagyu Strip was better.
