This is like the less cool, lamer cousin of St. Elmo’s. Don’t go in expecting it to be the same quality because you will be comparing to the superior St. Elmo’s and let down. As a stand-alone restaurant, this isn’t bad, it’s a good quality steak and clean atmosphere. However, it is nowhere near the quality as St. Elmo’s and not a substitute for that restaurant. If you’ve never been to St. Elmo’s then you’ll probably enjoy this, if you have though it will make you wish you just got the real deal instead.
This place is great! I tried steak And pasta and tried a bit of my mums lobster! Everything tasted so good! I have been thinking about it ever since I left, I have to go again! Customer service is great to! Would recommend to anyone.
Good service. Derek was very friendly and prompt. My steak was med rare. Came rare and cold. Should of sent it back but I didnt.shrimp cocktail was just a reason full had to ask for more.. services a 10 food a 5.
Delicious food and definitely the prettiest of the restaurants- but do NOT try to celebrate a birthday there. No matter how often you call to confirm the details, they will get it wrong and the manager will be totally unsympathetic.
The service was excellent. The food was ok. I had a sea bass with cous cous which was the special for the day. The bass was pretty good, just a little dry. It could have used a little moisture. The cous cous was terribly dry. The bass was $39 but not worth it at all. My girlfriend had the filet which was excellent. It was cooked to a perfect medium, the way she ordered it. The mashed potatoes she ordered as a side were also good. Overall, an ok experience. I guess it is just one of those restaurants where you have to order the filet to keep it safe. But if you are planning on spending this much money, I wouldnt recommend it.
Wow. We were in town for the birth of my twin nieces and were looking for a good place to eat. Being relative newbies to the Indy restaurant scene, the first thing that popped into our heads was, of course, St. Elmo’s. Also, of course, a reservation was fairly difficult to come by. Although Harry & Izzy’s probably doesn’t have the same history and decor, as I understand it, the food is, more or less, the same, and I have to say, it was tremendous. If you’re reading this review, you’re probably already familiar with the shrimp cocktail, but just to pile on, it is everything it’s cracked up to be — JUMBO (we’re talking practically prawns here), tender, perfectly-cooked, chilled shrimp swimming in a cocktail sauce that, in addition to the copious amounts of horseradish, is distinctly unique — it’s amazing. My wife’s cowboy steak (bone-in ribeye) and my dry-aged New York were both expertly prepared medium-rare and uniquely different from one another. As one might expect, the dry-aged New York had that deep, rich meat taste that was melt-in-your-mouth tender that you can only get with a dry-aged steak; it was amazing. Almost unbelievably, however, it was nearly upstaged by the cowboy steak which was seasoned perfectly. Both were tremendous. The side dishes (latkes and mashed) were pretty good as well, but did not live up to the rest of the meal. Altogether, this was a wonderful experience and a wonderful meal from a slightly-easier-to-get-into branch of one of the world’s best steakhouses…and it showed.
Great Service!!!. We have been to St.elmos many times but this was our first vist to Harry & Izzys. Our visit was superb, our waiter Chris was excellent and obviously knew all the ins and outs of the restaurant and was every bit as good as our St.Elmos waiters. Very impressed! Chris guided us thru our meal suggesting the Shrimp cocktail, Awesome, our entrees were also great! I had the bone-in Filet and my wife had the surf & turf topped off with the chefs brownie. We will make Harry & Izzys our go to place when we are in Indianapolis.
