Pizza arrived 20 minutes late (1 hour 10 minutes) and lukewarm. NOT impressive.
Ok pizza, over priced but great beer food. After a long night of bar hopping, hot box is fast an open late to comfort those in need. It’s not the pizza place I would crave or go out of my way for, but if I was in the area an have had more then a few drinks then this is good pizza. Hey, it’s better then school pizza.
This is not the best pizza in the city…by far. BUT having been there over a dozen times, the staff has always been friendly and the pizza’s always been ok. I’ve gone during the day for lunch with mentally handicapped clients and the staff (and owner) were exceptionally nice and accommodating. I’ve also been there post-bar and I’m always amazed at the level of relative control in the place. I don’t like the breadsticks because they have tons of salt on them, but I do like the crumbly sausage and the variety of sauces, toppings, and whole wheat dough. My clients Loved (capital L) the Tootsie Rolls that come with every pizza. 🙂 A kid friendly environment, during the day at least. Nice to be able to help yourself to drinks, extra napkins, etc. and not wait on a server.
Pizza for Drunks. Are you drunk? Do you want Pizza? Would going more than a couple blocks to get pizza be beyond your level of sobriety? Is it so late that everything else is closed? Are you drunk enough that you don’t care about paying way too much for what is at best mediocre pizza? Welcome to HotBox.
Crappy pizza for BR hipsters.. Go to WB, Someguys or Monicals Pizza instead.
