I don’t always review neighborhood Mexican restaurants. They are pretty much the same. This time, however, I feel the need to describe what happened here. We saw the reviews and, even though there were some comments about the service, it had a good rating. We were seated right away, given chips and salsa, and we ordered and received our drinks. Now, I know we are a servers’ nightmare. One of us is gluten intolerant, one a vegetarian and the third has an aversion to garlic and onions. Not a problem most places. This time, however, it became our nightmare. We asked our server how the chips were cooked and how the beans were cooked. He had trouble understanding us and started saying ‘Chicken Fat’ over and over again. We were sure that was not correct and, eventually, a manager(?) came over. We explained what we were asking and he immediately became agitated and rude, saying the server did not understand. That is understandable, however, he continued to act belligerently, saying vegetable oil was used. When I asked if that applied to both the chips and the beans, he got madder, saying ‘Vegetable Oil Buddy’ over and over and even wrote it on the menu. We don’t know exactly what set him off, but we decided to pay our bill and leave. Worst Mexican restaurant experience EVER!
