I am very happy to have Vietnamese food in Richmond. The Banh Mi sandwiches are fantastic. They have a variety of Asian food there and their Chinese food is better than Great Wall or 88 Buffet for sure. The place has an odd name and is in what looks like a barn, but the menu is huge, prices are fair, and food is always excellent.

Wonderful Pho prepared by Allen the other day! Thank you! Glad to see the menu is starting to morph into all Vietnamese specialties!12 Dec, 2012So glad to have Pho in town! Hope they continue to serve more and more traditional foods! Little on the pricey side for our demographic, but I’m willing to pay a little more to keep money and business LOCAL!

More menu options!. I have written reviews for this Vietnamese restaurant in little old Richmond, IN in other venues but feel compelled to continue reviewing as it seems that this restaurant continues to evolve. First a correction on a reviewer’s remarks in Yelp about American food in this establishment. Their subs are not American at all: homemade bread, stuffed with vegetables and various meats. The new one is the fish sub, which I had last week. Sign me up for more! The piece of fish was huge and all the condiments on it were marvelously exotic, most assuredly Vietnamese. Their menu has increased by 10 times since opening day. They have added a tofu appetizer, which is a crunchy piece of tofu enveloped in a cucumber thinly sliced that one dunks in a peanut sauce. Absolutely divine and a welcome addition to the already existing appetizers: spring rolls, soft rolls, etc. They have added several plates since my last review, but the real stand out is the Vietnamese riff on Pad Thai. One may have a choice of shrimp, chicken, or beef. And it was a spectacular dish with two kinds of noodle, a wonderful mixture of onions and bean sprouts in a brown peanuty sauce just a little over that side of heaven. Advice: PUT on the menu 3 OR 4 VEGETARIAN DISHES for the younger crowd. Lastly, American food. Why is it that it takes someone NOT of this country to do our food well? Sub and Roll has chicken wings, hamburgers, and french fries. I normally don’t eat french fries but these had to have been the best fries I have ever had second to Taste’s in Indianapolis, and they call them Frites. Sub n Roll’s fries must also be a riff on real French fries as opposed to the normal freedom fries normally served in most establishments. Lastly, I would like to make a plea for support from our community for this place. It is the kind of authentic food venue that makes real, fresh, crispy, to order food in a serious wasteland of fast food places and mediocre chain restaurants. Our community needs more choices likes this one. If you were ever a supporter of small businesses, this is your call to action. Tell your friends. It is delicious and well worth it!07 Dec, 2012New Vietnamese place in town. I am writing this review because we should encourage mom and pop type eateries like this one, in which they serve REAL food done up from scratch and for the most part it’s very tasty and well cooked. One caveat though: their subs are Vietnamese sandwiches, in which they use their own bread, which is supposed to be like French bread (they were a French colony once) and should be served CRUSTY, not soft like lackluster Wonder Bread or similar rolls. Request your sub to be crusty, or like me, super crusty and crunchy. Their Vietnamese steamed rolls, similar to Chinese bao are a meal unto themselves and are quite tasty. Their two soups: the chicken curry and the noodle soup are quite good. The former comes with a hunk of Vietnamese bread, the latter does not. (It should.) The Vietnamese soft rolls were excellent as were the fried ones, loved the sauce that accompanies both. I wasn’t crazy about the pastries and cookies, a little dry for my taste. Over all this place is a great addition to the eating experience in Richmond, Indiana.
