Seriously disappointed. This was my third visit, and the service was the worst. We sat in the bar for an hour before sitting at our table, which was our choice. But once we got to our table it took 3 hours before our course arrived . I had to open a bottle of wine myself and serve all four bottles of wine that we ordered. I feel like when you’re spending over $100 a person, the service should be excellent. I do not think we will be returning. It is such a disappointment as we had such fond memories of the first time that we went , but it seems that that the new ownership is causing the restaurant to be at a loss. Even though the issues were brought to the attention of the owners, I heard nothing but excuses for why the service was bad. Not to mention two out of 3 steaks were over cooked.
Service is fabulous. Enjoying the new crab cakes and cocktails the ambiance is perfect for any occasion. Let’s not forget about the wood fire it’s incredible. It’s a definitely a place to experience more than once.
Very disappointed. Having had one bad experience at the Carriage House a couple of years ago, we recently decided to give it another chance. The service was fine. It’s the unbelievably overpriced, mediocre food that’s the problem. The entrees were in the $45 range. At half that price I would have been disappointed. My tuna steak was very low on flavor. The soup could have been from one of our local family restaurants. My wife’s steak was fine but certainly was not notable in any way. It should have been in the $20 range – not $45. The wine we chose was excellent but the price was triple the street price. I think double is fair. For what we paid, we could have eaten great food at our favorite restaurant three times. Lesson learned.
S0-0-0-0disappointed. 3 couples were celebrating their anniversaries. We were seated in the lovely gardens. The meals went down from there: 7:00 p.m. ran out of their special salmon, 1 ,person turned backed his pizza because it was rendered inedible. service was incredably slo-o-o-ow; hamburgers were delicious, fries were not hot and limp, 1 patron asked for some paper napkins and was told we don’t use them. Pu—leeze we are eating on weather-beaten picnic tables for God’s sake! The carrot soup was very mediocre. We were comped for a free bannas foster dessert. The waitress. announced they had run out of candles
Indoor dinner service; not al fresco outside.. My wife and I love their Friday Afternoon Club in the summer, followed by a dinner reservation indoors. Decent bar selection, though they could use a few new scotches. The Carriage House is our preferred location for a special occasion dinner, whether for the two of us or for larger family events. The menu is somewhat limited, and changes infrequently, but there are some truly delicious options. I usually get the beef wellington or the steak diane. The portobello wellington is also wonderful, as are several other dishes we have had. The crab cake is a favorite appetizer, but for me, the beef tartare is quite simply the BEST you can get in this area. Among the best tartares I have ever had anywhere.Service is generally very pleasant, only issue we ever had was when I ordered a beef wellington medium rare and it was well beyond well-done. I spoke to our server about it, and they would not take it back. That was an aberration, though.Desserts are fantastic, and our favorite has always been the german chocolate torte. I do wish they would liven up the menu a bit, and add some new options to the bar, but for an infrequent special occasion destination, it fits the bill. Even if we had the means, we probably would not come here very frequently, because of the lack of variety. Highly recommended.
Disappointing. My husband and I came here for our anniversary with a reservation for a table both indoors and outdoors(in case it rained). We chose to sit outdoors, but the weather soon started turning foul, so we asked for our indoor table. The owner came out and argued with us over this, but eventually gave in. We were seated inside and promptly forgotten about. A server didn’t come for at least ten minutes. When we did get our food it was mediocre (don’t get the beef wellington unless you LOVE liver pate) and the interior decor was seriously in need of an overhaul. Wish we could have stayed outside and dined off the al fresco menu….
EXCELLENT. The outdoor fare is wonderful, gardens are georgous. Nice wine selection, beer choices could be larger. The food and service is everything you would expect from this well maincured restaurant. The food is fresh and prepared to order, Fabulous steaks, and fish. If you don’t mind the aging yuppies in the indoor seating, you’ll have a great time.
