MANGO MADNESS. I have heard good things about Mango and was prepared for a great dining experience….alas. The staff was friendly. The food was okay: beef with chimi churri sauce… Canned corn with cheese…hmmm. Absolutely freezing in the dining room. No atmosphere…….overhead fluorescent. My recommendation…..add some heat, put a stereo system with nice, traditional Venezuelan or at least latin music, lower the lights. Add some nice decor (doesn’t have to be expensive). Presentation; Big issue here. Horrible institutional plates and utensils. Table covers? It really seemed like a lunch room at a factory.

Delicious. Loved the food here and the service was really friendly. A little cold inside, but not terrible. Probably one of my favorites in the area now.

Unusual Flavors at Reasonable Prices. The two things I enjoyed the most were the mango juice and the sweet fried plantains. A friend and I wanted to get a taste of a variety of Venezuelan cuisine so we tried the appetizer platter which featured three different items that we could try along with several dipping sauces. We then ordered two different main meals, and split the food between us: pabellon and bandeja paisa. Neither one of us especially liked the flavoring of the meats, but in all honesty it is probably because it was so different from any other flavoring of meat than what we had eaten before. Some of the dipping sauces are quite flavorful and needed for the relatively flavorless fried yuca roots and arepitas fritas. The wait staff is very friendly, but tend to forget about you once you have been served. Portions of food are quite generous for the price. Neither of us will probably return in the near future, simply because we decided authentic Venezuelan food just isn’t our thing.
