It is open 24 hours, but I wasn't a big fan of the food. Friendly service. YMMV, skip the chicken parm.…

Gone downhill. Nicks food quality has slipped a bit over the last few years. You can still get a great sandwich or burger…..the last few times I’ve had breakfast there its been so so. Service is always very good…at least that hasn’t changed.
Disgusting.. First time ever visited was tonight for me and my party. It will be the last as well. When what we ordered finally did arrive, some of it was cold. My soup had a chicken bone in it, and my sandwich was so overcooked it was almost inedible. The service was terrible, waiting ten minutes for a packet of mustard for a sandwich then ultimately having to go and fetch it myself was a tad ridiculous. When we asked for something simple, such as a glass of ice water, it took ages. However, we were one of only two tables seated at the time. The waitstaff did seem to find time to stand at the counters and chat. I’ve heard excellent things about this place, but was incredibly disappointed in the shoddy service and the even worse food. Not recommended. The one thing I can say is that it was clean.
Good food, good service. We went for Breakfast. My order had scrambled eggs instead of over-easy (as I had ordered). I told the server, usually you have to wait at least 5-10 minutes when that happens, not at Nick’s, they had the order back out within two-three minutes. I understand people make mistakes, but when they correct them that quick, that is what I like. The manger brought me my plate and apologized. I like good food just as much as the rest of us, but I truly applaud GREAT service. Nick’s fits that bill. Great place.
What a diner should be!. Clean; quick service; reasonable prices. Had probably the best waffle (pecan) that I have ever tasted – crisp on the outside, yet perfectly tender inside. And the French Dip – usually a crap-shoot whether it will be fatty or tough – was perfect. It would hold its own against most quality Italian Beefs around; tender, flavorful and juicy.
Really great. I only go to Nick’s when it is 4AM and I am drunk, but I have never been disappointed. South Bend would miss a part of its nightlife if Nick’s ever went away.
Great local fare. Nick’s has been one of the places I’ve really liked since I was a kid. My dad used to take me here when we’d come to South Bend / Mishawaka.Food is great, desserts can be hit or miss. These days I miss the old days when the older gentleman used to be around…
Breakfast Anytime is my time. So I really like food and breakfast is one of my favorite meals. Nick’s Patio is one of those small places that is open all the time and allows you to have breakfast no matter what. Out for some beers and you want an omelet at 4am , Nick’s got you covered.I really like the mom and pop feel to the place. I have had many breakfast with my wife at Nick’s. It is a great place to grab a coffee and read the paper too. It does seem to have a lot of regulars that go there. You can always tell when they come in because of the banter between the wait staff and the customers. They also have some amazing pies as well. Most of them are delivered daily from a local bakery and are amazing.I would say if you want some of that home style good old American cuisine then this is a place for you. It is what IHop and Denny’s will never be, good!
