Really good food in a little mom and pop. Restaurant is old and had a slight musty smell. House Italian dressing is do good I used the warm crusty bread to sop it up! Homemade manicotti was served bubbling hot, took a while for it to cool enough to get a good taste. Was delicious. Cost all of $24.00 for two of us to eat. Friendly, efficient staff!

Nice neighborhood restaurant. So, I will admit, I screwed up! I go to a local South Bend Italian Restaurant and order Fried Wahoo?? Say what??? Oh, it was great, although a purchased frozen product. But still very tasty! So here’s my full assessment:The salad was limp and not stored at the right temp to remain crispy and they use bottled dressing. The only dissappointment tonight. The bread plate was half of an Italian bread loaf, buttered with garlic. Good, but too much for me.The cole slaw was not home made but tasted good enough. Now to the fried wahoo. It was frozen but very good. BUT, this is an Italian restaurant!??? Why did I do that???NOW, the marinara. Home made, excellent with peppers, garlic and onions. It was wonderful! The service was excellent. Very attentive and accommodating. The server was more than happy to let me taste the maranara sauce. Next time. ORDER THE ITALIAN! IT’S AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT!!!

Couldn’t stay away. I wandered into Volcano on the 3rd day of my 6-day stay in SB after seeing it near my hotel. I had the Veal Parmesan the first night, and it was good enough that I went back for the next two nights and had the same thing. Great salad and soft bread before the meal arrived, and then another loaf of Italian bread with the meal. The portion was actually more than I could eat, so I requested less pasta with the veal on nights 2 and 3, and that was more my size. The restaurant was nearly full each time I went, but the hostess or the owner (whoever saw me first) always invited me to sit wherever I wanted.I greatly enjoyed the food, and I’ll definitely be back if I have to be in South Bend again.
