Everyone is right. The cod sandwich was very good.
Best Fried Cod!. My family and i went here for the first time after we all had a craving for fried fish. The Cod is excellent here i must say, but i was dissapointed in a couple of things to do with our service. First off i ordered the cod fish dinner and when i asked if they had fried okra i was told no and then i asked if i could get onion rings instead of french fries or a baked potato and she said flat out no. I always thought customers were suppose to be able to get what they wanted. I would have gladly paid an upcharge. Also, we were suppose to get bread with our meal and that was never brought out or mentioned. Nevertheless, i will not let it deter me from visiting The Bush again as they really do have wonderful fish and who knows, maybe our waitress was new or having a bad day.
I’m so embarrassed that I have lived in Terre Haute for 4 years and this is my first visit. Even worse I had to hear about it from someone who lived here 15 years ago. Pretty tasty I must say. Probably the best onion rings I’ve ever had. Fish had a great flavor as well. Big servings. Cold beer. EXCELLENT service. Thank you Buddy. We’ll be back.
Delicious! A great place for when you’re having a cod craving. There’s a reason they’ve been open for decades: friendly, and the FOOD!
Best Beef Manhattan Since Mom’s. The Beef Manhattan is not on the regular menu, but I stopped by for lunch in Sept., 2012 and ordered it as it was on special. Kudus to the cook. The best I have had in years! Real Roast Beef on Texas Toast, great gravy, and a serving large enough to fill you up. I asked the waitress to tell the cook and hope see did. The fried Cod, Tenderloins, and Mushrooms, are also very good, as are other things I have had there. It’s a great place for the neighborhood blue plate special. Give The Bush a try. Pictures on the wall tell a great history of how long the place has been in business. It is located close to the Indiana State University Campus and worth visiting in my humble opinion. It is one of Terre Haute’s Landmark Bar and Grill’s.
Dinner. We had dinner there the other day and really enjoyed the JUMBO SHRIMP, sweet potato fries, salad, HUGE codfish sandwich, breaded mushrooms, broasted potatoes and HUGE 1/2 tenderloin sandwich. Veggies were fresh and crisp. They offer delivery now, too.Restaurant was clean and they have lots and lots of nostalgic pics, all over the walls, of celebs: Jackie Gleason, the three stooges, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, beatles, James Stewart, stars from old tv shows like Gunsmoke, Mr. Ed……. Too many for me to remember! Sure did bring back the memories. Waitresses are friendly and the place has a homey feel. You don’t feel rushed. Very family oriented.The food was delicious, loved the atmosphere. Over all, we had a wonderful time
