There is more than Pie….. I am hooked on the bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich at the Pie Company. Ask for the sourdough bread and pesto mayonnaise (on the side); Delicious! Enjoy your breakfast on the patio or carry out; inside dining available also! Try the Pie Company for breakfast!
Wedding Pie!. I have been working with Steve Huddleston for a large pie order. I am getting married 5/30 where over 200 guests will be enjoying Grand Traverse’s wonderful lemon, pecan, and blackberry (despite the shortage) pies. I am so grateful for the wonderful service I have received from Steve. He worked with me every step of this process and even found a way to deliver my order to Indianapolis on the day of the ceremony. Wedding pie was a crazy dream I had, and Grand Traverse in Terre Haute has made it a reality. Thank you so very much for making my special day absolutely perfect. Customer care like this is not common, and I wanted to be sure and share my appreciation with any and everyone I can! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Went to Pie Co yesterday for the Manitou sandwich, decided to try their caramel coffee. I added cream and this coffee is so silky, smooth and delicious ! I bight a bag to take home and make. The gals at register were wonderful in getting this for me from their huge bulk bag since they didn’t have any out front. This is our favorite sandwich cafe29 Jan, 2014The coconut cream pie and the banana cream are excellent! The manitou sandwich is the best. We each order the manitou every time we go. The pie is only $1 with sandwich (last year, it could go up with inflation). We get our drinks in to go cups. I fill my cup with cherry coffee on the way out to have with breakfast the next morning and sometimes I get the pie with my meal (since it’s a better price as an add on) even if I don’t want it at that time, I’ll get in a to-go container and have with my coffee the next morning. Jim likes the huge cinnamon rolls, I didn’t care for those. We both like the boston cream pastry/turnover. The pot pie is very good also. Nice atmosphere with fireplace. Music not too loud. Friendly staff. Pleasant to eat in. There is also an outdoor area.

When I travel north from my home in Kentucky, I try to arrange my route so as to go through Terre Haute, Indiana specifically so that I can stop at Grand Traverse Pie Company. Just last Saturday I had a cup of lobster bisque to die for. I love all the baked goods, especially the pastry. The quiche is a wonderful breakfast. I’ve never had a sandwich I didn’t like. They use excellent artisan breads. I usually take a dessert to enjoy later in my hotel room–a cookie, an individual slice of pie or cake, a cinnamon roll. When I’m traveling south, on my way home, I always bring home a whole pie for my family to enjoy. The chocolate pie is the best in the world and the apple crumb is a family favorite. My advice is, eat something at Grand Traverse Pie Company, as often as you can.
Great Food on a College Student’s Budget. As you guessed, I am in college at ISU, but I am also a local and this restaurant is wonderful. I have been multiple times since it has opened and I have not been disappointed. I normally get the chicken sandwhich on chibatta that they offer (not sure of the exact name, but has chicken, bacon, lettuce, cheese, and ranch. yum!) along with a bag of chips, drink and a slice of rhubarb strawberry crumb pie. The pie is out of this world amazing! For all you other Rhubarb/rhubarb strawberry fans, you will not be disappointed with this at all. Their peanut butter pie is also very very good, but after the heavy sandwhich I like lighter fruit pie. The prices are very fair for the portion size and quality. Any students or would be students for ISU, keep in mind that as long as you show your student ID when you order, you get a FREE SLICE OF PIE!!! What can be better than that??
Solid all the way around. We come here often, and have never had a bad experience. It’s hard to get bad service when you walk in and place your order at the counter. More times than not, by the time I pay and we get our drinks, my name is called and all 3 or 4 orders are ready for pickup by the time we select our table. As for the sandwiches, quiche and soup – I’ve never regretted a choice, and because everything is prepared well, I frequently feel the need to try something I’ve never ordered. They have good sides, and if you’ve never tried the blueberry applesauce – it ROCKS! The deserts are quite impressive, and I don’t really have that big of a sweet tooth. The location is across from the ISU campus gate, and while I’ve never experienced a rush that made me wait (to include lunch), I suspect there may be some peak times to avoid. The place is solid all the way around in my opinion.
The pie and sandwiches are awesome, the only thing I have had I didn’t like was the chili and the nacho baked potato. The potato tasted nothing like nacho spices besides the jalapeo it tasted like beef stew, ok if you want that but not what I wanted or expected. I agree with the poster about service being poor sometimes it is horrible and I have walked out when I wasn’t dead set on pie, also they are quite pricey but you can get a slice of pie and a drink cheap during special hours which is fantastic.
