I’ve always loved schoops and every single one has always had great food, especially their chili. This was the first time I’ve had a bad experience and it was my first time at the valpo schoops, having just moved to the area. The chili was TERRIBLE, believe it or not. My husband ordered a bacon burger with mayo. They forgot the bacon….and the mayo! The fries were soggy and clumped together. The workers weren’t rude, but just ignored us when we came in to pick it up. Someone ended up giving us the wrong order at first and then sat down and put his feet up until another customer realized we’d gotten THEIR order. Very sad because I was really excited to have a schoops close by. I will eat at schoops again but not this one on calumet ave, as quality is obviously not important.

Burgers Rule!. While I am not a big fan of the rather mundane fries at Schoops, I love the burgers! Especially the crispy edges of the patties.I do believe they have cornered the market on the most potent onions in NWI, so don’t eat them on a first date…Love the alternate flavors of soft drinks they offer, give chocolate/cherry coke a try. It’s almost over the top.Also, the breakfast offerings are top notch, including the hash browns which I always order extra crispy.In summary–big burgers, big breakfast portions, good flavors, and friendly service. Some of the servers have been here since the revolutionary war, I believe, so they really know their stuff.
HORRIBLE!. RUDE staff. They stared at us the entire time and was super rude. Food was expensive and gross. If the staff would have been more friendly the price wouldn’t matter. We went with a group of 4 and they brought 1 check and the lady had no clue how to do separate checks..never again
Overly greasy food that isn’t very impressive and rude servers
A must if you are in northwest Indiana. Great burgers. Fries are a large side. 2 people can share them. Grab a shake while you are there.
Great Burgers. Great breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Servers are prompt.
