Good beer selection. Came here on a snowy Sunday afternoon after the movie we wanted to see was sold out. It was between lunch and dinner so we just tried a few appetizers (cheese bread and wings) and had some beer. The food was good (we ordered more cheese bread) and I wish we could have tried some pizzas because there were a few on the menu that sounded delicious. Our service was good and we tried various beers on tap. Would come back to try the pizza and get drinks.

A definite cut above most Valpo pizzas. Some friends of mine from CA visited recently. This is the restaurant they chose. Seems like Californians can be pretty picky about food, so after hearing they loved their meal at Tomato Bar, I couldn’t wait to check it out. Yum-bo! Best pizza crust by far in Valpo, in my opinion. We ordered a pizza with cheese, tomato, and green pepper. It had a great flavor and was served piping hot. Side salad also excellent. Menu includes calzones and various other stuff, plus some great-sounding appetizers. My only negative is that there is no goat cheese on the long list of topping choices for their build-your-own pizza. But now I’M being picky (smile)

Chain Rest Food. For a chain restaurant food is decent, service is spotty. Nothing to rave about, nothing to complain about. I’ll stop by if there’s tables available if not I’ll keep going.

Great Food and Great Service. We just ate at Tomato Bar for the first time and loved everything we had. We ordered the Dough nuts which were out of this world followed by their oven baked wings which were also very good. We then ordered the Muffaletta sandwich and the Banco pizza – both DELISH! Will be back again and again!! Can’t wait!

Pizza OK. As far as Pizza goes I have not yet found a better Pizza than Greeks House Special. That said, we went to Tomato Bar the other day. I ordered a small Soulchaser without bacon. This pizza is as close to a Greeks House Special as anyone in Valpo makes. It had good flavor and texture. Not as good as Greeks but very close. Now the service. The waitress was very nice and competent. I was in a position to watch our ticket get clipped on the wire and sit, and sit some more and sit while others were moved ahead of ours. I saw pizzas delivered to customers who came in after we arrived. Was it because we had a 4yr old with us and this delay was a hint that little ones are not welcomed? As far as the interior is concerned It is the Wagners Ribs interior with some rearranging. You need a set of Double doors to keep the cold air out and the floor needs to be painted. It looks like a crime scene.

Very good pizza!. I was hoping for an artisan Neapolitan style pizza, but that’s not Tomato Bar’s target market. They don’t have the ingredients or the equipment (wood-fired brick oven), they focus on good quality pizza that admittedly most customers are probably looking for. That said, we’ve lived in Valparaiso for 20 years and eaten pizza everywhere in town, and we certainly enjoyed our salads, pizza and beer at Tomato Bar. If there’s a better pizza in town, I don’t know where. High quality ingredients (no surprise as it’s same folks who own Valley, the farm-to-fork restaurant) and handmade pizzas. A great selection of craft and popular beers, with a bar area, and nice dining room atmosphere. A very broad menu, good service and the place was hopping even though we were early for dinner. So we still have to go to Chicago or Michiana Shores for artisan pizza, but for a good quality pizza, I don’t think you can do better in Valparaiso than Tomato Bar. I think they’re going to be very successful.
