Make Reservations, Awesome Fried Chicken. The fam and I have eaten here before, but this was the 1st time I had the fried chicken. It was fantastic! Hot, crispy, and well-seasoned. My husband had the pork chop, which he also liked. They have the biggest smoked chicken salad I have ever seen. Next time, I will try that. The smoked chicken is supposed to be excellent. I would recommend making reservations for weekend nights, they are popular with the locals.03 May, 2013Yum!. The smoked chicken here is delicous, as is the beer bread. Its a nice place to go for a casual, homestyle meal.
Awesome food. Smoked chicken=the bomb. Smoked chop=thick and meaty. Fried catfish=meh, passable. Service is good and beer is cheap. What more can you ask for?
Beer bread, smoked chicken and ice cold fishbowl of Amberbock! I have died and gone to heaven!
Very good food and service, the fried chicken was excellent, and so was the prime rib and pork chops.
Great good, cheap beer, awesome service!
Smoked Chicken, Baby!!. Ok, I’ve just got two things to say about this place… Smoked Chicken and Beer Bread. The smoked chicken is by far the best I’ve ever had. They only serve it, from what I understand, on Monday and Wednesday. The meat comes right off the bone and the smoke flavor encompasses every bite. In fact, you’ll find you’ll be wearing the smoke smell for the rest of the day after a meal here. The beer bread is the other treat. Only place I’ve ever had it, but it has the density of cornbread and is made into small loaves that are sliced and lightly fried in butter. You’ll be ordering extras. What’s amazing to me is that most non-locals will never find this place. The first time I went, I was sure I was lost as I was in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Then, all of a sudden, this place pops out at you at an intersection. If you are not a local of Evansville, I highly recommend that you make the drive to Hornville Tavern. It’s about a 15 min drive outside of town, but so worth it.
Excelent Ribeye Sandwhiches!!!!!
