Best Mexican Food in Fort Wayne. I absolutely love this place. Another reviewer said that the cheese and onion enchiladas at La Margarita ruin enchiladas at all other restaurants, and this is SO true. The enchiladas come with a great, unique gravy and a ton of rice and beans. I also recommend the bean siesta nachos. Delicious, tons of guacamole, beans, etc. Other reviewers have commented on the prices. I don’t think the prices are too high – maybe a little bit higher than other Mexican places, but the food is absolutely worth it. Don’t be turned off by the area, either. I go at night all the time and have never felt unsafe. There’s a big Walgreens not far away, the area is well-lit, and Calhoun Street is relatively busy. The restaurant is non-descript from the outside, but clean and nice on the inside. I highly, highly, highly recommend this place.

I ordered the chicken nachos. Worst meal I have had in years. I Am absolutely positive they are using GFS canned chicken and it is terrible.
Menu HERE NOT ACCURATE. The menu you see here is not representative of the REAL menu. It has WAY too many items to able to do any items justice. There is no Menudo soup either, as you see here on the menu.Very expensive for what they offer, even ordering the specials. Waitress did NOT return to ask if everything was Ok, until we were finished. Beer is VERY expensive, domestic is about $7.00 for 2, PLUS tax! They charge for a tiny dish of jalapenoes. $5.00 for a SMALL side of tiny beans and cheese, PLUS the extra for the jalapeno’s. Which made the small dish of beans and cheese and jalapeno’s almost $7.00.Overall…expensive.
Really like. A great comfortable place; the cheese enchalidas with onions are out of sight, ruin enchalidas for me every place else. Great nachos too. Have been coming here for 40 years.
Review. Leo and Chris make the place! Leo is very charming and always tries to keep you happy. Chris always has come-backs that makes you feel as if you are dining at home! Sometimes I wonder if she is going to back-hand me for asking for more chips! But it makes us all laugh because she is just teasing! The nachos are great. I see that people commented on the high prices. It isn’t Taco Bell people!So, we go back over and over for the good nachos and the rotten comments we get from Chris! She is a fun loving person and adds color to the place! She also runs her behind off while working. That is a good waitress if you ask me!
Beef and cheese nachos, Cadillacs. I eat it every time I’m there! Which is at least once per week! YUM-O
