Best Sushi in Town. We have tried a number of sushi places in the Lafayette area, and nothing has beaten Maru in terms of quality. Some of the rolls can be pretty pricy, but every one that I have tried has been good. There is limited seating, however, so expect a wait at dinner time!
Best in Lafayette. Lafayette isn’t known for its sushi but this is the best value and the best sushi I have found without going to Indianapolis.
Do NOT get delivery!. This place has good sushi. It can get a little crammed when dining in because it is a little on the small side inside the restaurant. But the food is still good and worth a try at the restaurant. A couple of weeks ago, I made the horrible mistake of ordering delivery. It was so disappointing for the price, that I may not even eat at the restaurant again. The delivery driver first dropped off the wrong order, which is no big deal. I called the restaurant and they had him return quickly with the correct order. But when we got our food, it was small. And by small I mean, our sushi roll (that we also ordered when dining in previously), only came with 5 very small pieces that could fit into a small delivery box. It was the identical roll we got at the restaurant before – same name, ingredients, and price. The roll was literally 1/3 the size of the identical roll when ordered at the restaurant. I ordered the chicken teriyaki. The amount of chicken and side of white rice was normal. But that was all there was to it! The chicken was not too flavorful. It came with 1 piece of broccoli and 2 pieces of carrot. We ordered the vegetable tempura as an appetizer. There were only 6 pieces of tempura in the container. My boyfriend ordered (bulgoki?). I apologize, I cannot remember the name. The amount of meat was more than normal and he said it was good. But it was just that. Just meat and rice. We ended up spending over $50 (one appetizer, one sushi roll, two dinners, tip, delivery charges) and it was absolutely not worth it. If I had never eaten in the restaurant, based off of the quantity and quality of the delivery order, I would not recommend this restaurant. However, since I have also dined in, my recommendation is to go to the restaurant and get sushi. Only. I do not recommend ordering from them for delivery. And based off of the flavor and contents of the dinners, I would not order dinner entrees. I would just get sushi. The tempura was okay too.
Best spicy tuna. Small establishment but amazing service. The price is unbeatable. Definitely will come back.
Yum yum yum. Too bad the bulgogi slicer was broken. Sushi was great.
Reasonable priced sushi… I could not find this place on US in the sushi section but I think they serve more of that than other items. Small & cozy, so expect to wait. Worth a stop to get a sushi fix.
Bad experience. Upon recommendation, i went to here the other day. being initially unimpressed by the sushi i was served, i was further disappointed when i bit into a large bone in one of my rolls. imagine my surprise when i bit into a second bone in the same roll. and the cashier who asked how everything was? well, when i told him th…ere were two bones in one of my rolls, he laughed. not only is the sushi here not very good, but the sushi chefs are obviously not very careful. i’ll not be recommending maru.
