Awesome food and great staff!. We have been going to their restaurant since it was in Castleton! We now drive to Zionsville without a hesitation… The Crab Rangoon is beyond comparison as is the rest of the food… The negative comments on this page are most likely from their competitors…
The Best. Rice Cooker has been my all-time favorite Chinese restaurant since practically forever. I’ve been going to Rice Cooker ever since I was a kid (It’s been open for over thirty years!), so the staff there is almost like a second family to me. I always get pork fried rice and crab rangoons. SO SO GOOD! The pork fried rice is just a personal childhood favorite of mine. And the crab rangoons are just so crispy on the outside, and the cream cheese middle is so smooth and delicious. HEAVEN (the crab rangoons are a must at this place!). To me, one important factor towards a restaurant’s success is the service. Rice Cooker’s service is exceptional! Since I’ve been going to Rice Cooker for a while, everybody knows my order haha! And it’s not just me they remember, I noticed that the staff recognizes almost everybody in the restaurant (and of course they are super super nice towards new customers as well). The food, environment, and service definitely exemplify Rice Cooker’s success over the years.
Not worth the money. This is the worst Chinese that my husband and I have ever had. The staff are friendly, but the food is wanting. The egg drop soup was so egg-y that it tasted like straight up yolks. The pork rolls were soggy, and the lo mein was made with spaghetti noodles. All flavor was lacking.
Happy accident!. We didn’t plan to eat here. We’d actually not planned to eat out anywhere. But it was mid afternoon and breakfast had been early. We’ve not had the best luck with hole-in-the-wall or storefront Asian since we’d been in Indiana, so it was with some misgiving that we entered. From that moment, however, we had a delightful experience. The proprietor was pleasant and helpful, and the food really good. We made our meal from a selection of appetizers (crab rangoon, beef on a stick, lettuce lettuce wraps stuffed with a chicken mixture, enjoying each of them in turn. About the only disappointment was the Vietnamese shrimp egg roll. I’d been picturing–and craving–the thin crispy shell of the Vietnamese fried roll rather than the translucent cold roll (also authentic, maybe moreso!, but neglected to ask. There was nothing wrong with it, and plenty of it. The decor was subdued, the price was reasonable, and everything looked fresh and clean. We’ll be back!
Consistently great food and service!. I’ve been a devoted customer for the past 10 years, and the food is consistently delicious and the customer service is great. I’ve dined-in and done carry-out and have never had a wrong order or missing item in my 10 years of patronage!
Food is great, however takeout service is awful. Tired of getting the wrong food or missing food.
