  This formerly award-winning restaurant seems to have fallen very far following an ownership change. This is by far the worst italian restaurant I have ever been to. My plate had dry spaghetti (i.e. no sauce) with a dry chicken breast. My wife had some ravioli which was not seasoned and was topped with canned tomato sauce. The food is edible, for sure, but when I can make the same at home (and some thing much better) for 1$ without trying I feel ripped off when I pay 15$ for it in a restaurant. I heard that the pizza is good, we didn’t try it. The salad dressing is good.

  I would recommend this place to anyone wanting good Italian food with a homemade vibe. The spaghetti with meatballs was delicious. A bit over sauced for my personal taste, but enjoyable. The pasta came with a side salad or soup. I was delighted to find out all but one of their dressing were house made. The Caesar dressing and balsamic dressing were tasty and well made. The meal came with fresh rolls, which were snatched up and devoured. I will be coming back for another round.

  Decent Italian. My parents LOVE Italian, and this was definitely their favorite Italian place in Ames. Every time they would come visit, we’d go straight to Ge-Angelo’s. The Italian eggrolls are a fantastic twist, super tasty. The rest of the food is good (not unbelievable, but good) and the portions are perfect.

  I stopped in for an early dinner on a Monday evening with my fiance. Nice little spot. We sat in the area toward the front with the wood stove. Nice ambiance which was better that the main area. The place had no one in it during our meal save the owner and wait staff. Maybe to be expected on a Monday night, but a little sad too. This place deserves better. We ordered salads and a pizza. The Italian dressing has a bit lifeless and oily, but the pizza was terrific. Nice crust and a delicious sauce. It was maybe slightly too done for my taste, but very good. We also tried a breadstick which the waitress brought out to try. Very good. I could have eaten a dozen of those. Overall, a nice little spot with some good options. The location isn’t ideal, but it’s worth a trip to the north end. There aren’t many good Italian places in Ames. I would recommend it.

  What a gem!. I was visiting Ames with a friend (I was up from Kansas City) and we stopped at this lovely place late in the evening on a saturday. It’s important to note that this was shortly after the terrible flooding they had in town and that the boil order was still in effect. Their menu, understandably, was crippled significantly. Still, though, even with a limited menu, this place was amazing. I ordered the lasagna, my friend a calzone, both were fantastic. Easily as good as some of the restaurants in Kansas City that cost half again as much. The portions were plentiful but not huge. The waitstaff was friendly and, as mentioned in the other review, we had the owner come over and have a pleasant chat with us. It was a lovely experience. I’ll definitely be back when I have the chance! Give Ge-Angelo’s a try, you won’t be disappointed!
