Not bad, but not really a 91% rating. Everything was okay, but very bland. The pancake was pretty good, but other than being orange, not that special.

Big disappointment. I was very disappointed in quality of breakfast and with the owner’s service and attitude. The pancakes were orange but this seems more like a gimmick and they were not anything special. IHOP or even McD are better.

The pancakes and homemade syrup are to die for! The pancakes are orange, special ingredient unknown. Just beware, one is huge! I ate a plate of eggs and bacon with wheat toast, my friend had a cheese and ham omelette. Both were very tasty, smaller portions than some places but then it’s cheap and you don’t feel overly full. Highly recommended breakfast in Ames.

Fantastic breakfast place. When I come to Ames to visit friends I always make at least one meal is eaten at the Grove Cafe. I almost always order one of their specials. My favorites include the the everything hashbrowns and the pancake special (peach & pumpkin). The Grove is a small place so be prepared to wait…the wait is worth it.

The four of us walked in to the grove in search of the perfect breakfast for a big game later that day. We were distraught to earn they close at noon, and it was 1230 by the time we arrived. The owner was in and when he learned we were visitors from out of town he instructed his staff to cook us breakfast. Not only was this breakfast delicious, but everyone who worked there was kind and helpful despite the fact that we were keeping them late. I would highly reccomend this restauran, espically the pancakes.

Where the locals eat. The Grove Cafe is down home cooking. There is no better breakfast in Ames. Weekends are busy sometimes with a wait and they close at noon. During the week I think they are open until 2 for lunch. Amazing hash browns. A main street staple for sure. The owner and waitstaff are always friendly. This will be the last meal we have before moving in August. 🙁
