Decent at best. I have been coming here to the hotel for two years. The service is the worst I have ever seen and the management is an absolute joke. …

A good standby. If you live in the east central area of Ankeny (1st and Delaware), Ankeny Diner is a good standby for those nights that you want comfort food but can’t decide where to go, or because everything else is too far away because you’re lazy. I eat here often. The malts and shakes are awesome, they can make anything you want. The burgers are delicious, and they have good appetizers. It’s hard to go wrong here.
Great Breakfast. I eat breakfast here almost every week. The size of our group ranges from 5 to 15 and with that many people ordering as many as 15 different breakfast meals, we have never been disappointed; the food is always good. Tthe staff are second to none, and they are more than willing to move tables to accommodate out group — regardless of size. It is one of the few places you can get Canadian Bacon.
Great Patty Melt and Onion Rings. We ate there on a Monday for the hamburger BOGO and it was very good. My Patty Melt and the onion rings were wonderful and my friend thought his cheeseburger was tasty too. They were voted in the top 10 hamburgers in Iowa this year and I can see why. They also have a great old-fashioned sucker at the register when you leave – the kind with the loop handle.
Don’t Go Here…. We had heard about the Sunday buffet, so decided to check it out today. Just a warning to anyone who wants to try it: DON’T. It’s horrible! The food was a bizarre mix of instant mashed potatoes, over-cooked french toast sticks, and mini hot dog looking sausages that looked disgusting. The food we did try was horrible. It tasted like it had been sitting out for hours and we took just a few bites before deciding to leave. We should have known better after seeing how grungy the place was, but we decided to try it after hearing a couple of good thing about the place. All in all, I would recommend to anyone to stay away from this place. It was the worst $20.00 we’ve spent in a long time.
I eat breakfast there at least twice a week excellent food excellent service. They also have a tenderloin sandwich that will compare to the best
Better than your average motel restaurant, but certainly not up to the standards of the Drake Diner. The nearby motel pool chlorine smell greets you upon entrance. There are no windows, which makes for a somewhat claustrophobic dining experience. Mediocre food and service. Too bad… Ankeny could use a Drake Diner-type restaurant.
Food I’d always great service is very fast and friendly. We eat here often.
