Smoked wings are amazing! Try the dry rubbed and pick from an assortment of bbq sauces. Other meat selections are equally good. Can be a bit noisy when busy but sit outside and enjoy the ‘lake’ view.
We love Jethro’s!!!. My family has eaten at several of the Jethros locations and have never been disappointed. We love love love their smoked wings, waffle fries, beef brisket, the kids chicken strips and the Jethro sandwich. We enjoy that each location has a different specialty. We have always had friendly service and the portions are very large so we get two meals out of each visit.
The place was a joke. Over 20 minutes they couldn’t take my order or give me the time of day until I got up to leave. Their service and attitude towards customers was pathetic. McDonalds has better staff than Jethro’s and it wouldn’t surprise me if McDonald’s was a cleaner food chain also.
Decent Food Kind of Loud. Jethro’s is a decent option for reasonably good food. It’s named BBQ, but it has a huge menu selection covering burgers, cajun, sandwiches, mexican and BBQ. My extended family eats here a lot. They tend to do take out because the place is loud. When I picked up our food it was hard to hear.As far the food goes, we tried quesadillas, spike burger, chicken nachos, pulled pork sandwich, and boneless wings. They did forget our cheese sauce on the chicken nachos, which makes that plate. They also forgot the side of mash potatoes and gravy. All that aside, we liked the food. The chicken and pork was so moist. The two different types of BBQ dipping sauce was nice. My burger was over cooked even though we asked for pink in the middle.
There are Better Places. After 3 visits I have to say that there are better places for BBQ meat in the greater Des Moines area. The first time was pretty good, the second time, not so much and last night was just plain awful. Last night I ordered pulled pork – a staple at BBQ places. The meat was stringy and cold and the side of cole slaw was not so good. Overall a pitiful, although expensive, meal. The gumbo, however was very good and the red beans and rice, ordered by my wife, was reported to be also, very good.
Don’t Get It. Overpriced and in some cases inedible (although the Better Homes & Garden sandwich was good). The only plus we noticed was our servers who were excellent but this didn’t make up for the food. We gave it two chances hoping it would be better the 2nd time; unfortunately it wasn’t and we won’t be back.
Awesome ribs and corn. Very large meals
